It appears almost every auction on eBay for a 1DS is a SCAM. Has anyone ever bought one from there. Their reputation must be going down. Who would EVER buy a high ticket item unless you could see it first, (Can you do that with COD?)

Am I wrong here or what?

Your eyes can capture the soul, the camera just a image.

I don't know if they are all scams, but I cannot find a single auction for a 1Ds that does not look very suspicious. Even those being offered by sellers with good feedback look strange; the sellers had no feedback from selling similar high-priced goods, no actual photo of the camera, vague payment instructions, etc. At least 7 1Ds auctions have been de-listed by eBay since yesterday. I have been watching auctions for high priced cameras and electronics (over $2000) for several years and am convinced that most are fraudulent. Fortunately, most of the buyers have figured that out also, so that there are few victims of these frauds who actually lose money. Just a lot of wasted time.

I've bought 1 camera, 3 lens, a remote control grip for a 630 and a Martin Guitar. So far I've had no problems maybe because I only buy from individuals and don't bid until I've talked to them by phone. I have noticed an increase in listings that just didn't feel right..........

I spent about $5000 on ebay ( photo equipments) this year,

Most of them buy it now so rarely talk to/e-mail the seller.

Never once was I cheated.

There are times that I am not happy so I requested return and
everytime I got full refund no matter it is from a 1000 points seller or
a 5 points seller. Refunded purchases were not included in the $5000
I mentioned above.

Yeah right...$2100 for a 1Ds and only money orders accepted...if anyone is stupid enough send in $2100, they deserve it. These guys are preying on greed.

All the low price 1Ds auctions require " pre-approved buyers " and are blatent scams.

What exactly is the purpose of Ebay allowing auctions where the buyer has to ask for permission to buy something. No one is going to get these cameras at this price so what is the point ?

to extract money from a sucker looking for a bargain. And if works or else these scams wouldn't exist. :((
