Pipes from a sugar refinery. I feel somewhat outdated by clinging to the D-Lux 4 when so many goodies are being used by the members here and marvelous images produced from these new gears. It might be the time for me to upgrade:-). I do not upgrade very often, once done so, I will be loyal to the new gear for quite a long time.:-(

Where is the fun in that? :-)

I will admit that I find the recent post on pipes very interesting. There is something about the geometry, the play of the light with the shapes, and the representation of human engineering that works well for me, especially in BW.

Nice set and pp.

As you have proven with your superb set of images, it's not the gear, but ones eye that counts in the end. The D-LUX 4 is a marvelous camera and was quite advanced when it first was released. I also don't believe in retiring equipment frequently and believe in getting familiar with a camera so it becomes second nature to use. Also, so many of the latest cameras on the market are very complex to shoot with and not made as well as the older ones.

Regards,

Emil

Hi, D, thanks for your comment! These are shots from my business trip to a sugar refinery in the southwest of Yunnan province, which again is in the southwest of China. It borders with Myanmar. It's fun to combine a job with a hobby, isn't it? I tried to find something suitable for photography and clicked the button; I hope this didn't affect my work.

Well done. Interesting series.

Hi, Emil, your comment is much appreciated! I might be a "slow" person: I was slow to get used to all the functions of the D-Lux 4 after getting it, slow to feel the need for an upgrade (or side-grade). I used the Nikon Coolpix E800 for about 8 years before I began to use the DL4. Sooner or later I'll be convinced again to uppgrade and adapt myself to a new gear.
