The thing is, the big white blob-o-bokeh to the left of the model's face draws the eye away from her. I don't particularly like the very smooth bokeh of the other photo that was posted, so perhaps just toning down the distracting element in this one would keep the eye focused on her and not the background, and leave it as an interesting textural element rather than competition for attention.Put me down as one who loves the so-called "busy bokeh" (I'd call it a kaleidoscopic, swirling background)! The lighting is terrific on this shot. I'm not as fond of the busy bokeh in the background, though. Very nice work.

What a great shot. Has the kitten started snuggling with him yet?
So not "busy bokeh;" rather, a semi-blown out spot in the background? The thing is, the big white blob-o-bokeh to the left of the model's face draws the eye away from her. We are talking about two different things here, actually. I am not a fan of the busy bokeh, but if it could be utilized as more of a patterned background than competition for the model, it could work ok. As it is, the combo of the active background pattern along with the blown out area is just too much for me.So not "busy bokeh;" rather, a semi-blown out spot in the background? The thing is, the big white blob-o-bokeh to the left of the model's face draws the eye away from her.
