yeah that does help some, what i am really looking for is something that will give me an idea of what kind of lens will work/work best, does the focal lenght matter, lens quality, zoom vs fixed. that kind of thing so i can figure out what type of lens i need to buy (hopefully i can find something decent on ebay for not too trebably much money)

I have been looking for the right 50mm lens to turn around and hold on the front of my 5050. You have to find one that does not have too wide an F number or else it slides around on the glass. Many have fine stepped baffles around the glass, and the idea is to get one that butts up nicely.

Also some older lenses are very heavy, while some modern F1.8 or F2.0 are really light.

I do not think that it matters which make of lens apart from those considerations.

I wonder if some sort of bracket can be made up that goes in the tripod mount and holds the lens in the right position in front?

Those are all good points that I forgot to mention Berni. Thanks for bringing them up. I think I should add that info to my description of my setup.

Thanks Monica, but sure you could. Get the right lighting, the right fly that won't move, and have a steady hand, and anyone can get these kinds of shots. : )

Don't suppose I could do such an extraordinary shot like that with
my lowly 2100 and Bmacro lens??? That is simply amazing.
