Hi,

this morning we went to our local ZOO, the Ecomuseum of Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue, it's small but fun to go with the kids. It was snowing .... again.... big wet snowflakes for over an hour while shooting, it makes for interesting shots :)

It was a good test for my K50 and DA 55-300mm WR, as expected the kit did very well and was not impressed by that snow ;)

Due to the low light and to the slow maximum aperture of the zoom the AF was not as accurate as in good light and ended with OOF shots. But that's OK, I was ready for this and took more shots than usual just to be sure I got some in focus photos, it's a compromise for a lightweight kit.

As for the IQ, well it did very well, most of the photos were taken at f/6.3 and 7.1 to get the fastest shutter speed and shallow DOF to blurr the background. All photos were taken hanheld because I didn't want to carry my tripod this time. SR was helpful at the beginning when the light was not good.

Hi,

when I started the PP I decided to give it a try in B&W and finally liked it better that way than in color.

Thanks for looking and i'm happy to be back with Pentax, it feels so right in my hands !

Nice captures Leopold.

Looks like you are having fun with your new K-50.

Hi Steeve,

Nice, nice and nice :-)

You are certainly among the top three or four shooters on the forum. I really enjoy your

posts.

I really like 3&4 Steeve.

That's one thing I'll never understand. You put a whole turkey in your freezer and it becomes ice. You leave a live eagle out in the snow for several days and it remains fleshy and flexible. Even its bare, exposed little eagle legs. It just doesn't add up.

Beautiful shots, BTW. Thank you.

Very nice shots. Love the golden eagle shots. My favorite is the one of the hawk.

Nice work, Steeve - the setting is very nice for a zoo and the snow adds lovely elements to the shots.

Thank you, the Hawk was very active and difficult to get in focus.
