How can I backup my 4K videos from AX100 directly to a USB Disk-on-key flash memory.

Thanks.

You mean use the direct copy feature? You can't. You have to use an actual hard drive. Flash Memory Key disks are only designed to plug into a computer.

There are lots of small, portable external hard drives that are designed to provide such backup. Both Western Digital and Seagate have product lines of such drives.

I don't think you can.

But, there is a relatively new product from Western Digital. It is an external HDD with two extra features, a battery and a SD card slot.

Can you provide a link to the Seagate with the SD card slot? I can't find it.

Why don't use a exterrnal device to backup like this ?
(wwww.hypershop.com/hyperdrive/udma-2/)

I have the version 1 of this but unfortunally it does not recognizes SDXC memory cards, only SD cards up to 32 Gb. My SDXC cards used on AX100 are SDXC 128GB.

The new version is updated.

The Sanho hyperdrive will work with any camera that uses SD cards. The downside is that it is not cheap, and prices start at $250 here in the USA. But it would be a good and effective solution.

But one can buy external portable hard drives for as low as $50 these days.

Dear friends,

I've connected a Corsair GTX 128GB disk on key via Micro USB cable to MicroUSB socket and this setup executed Direct Copy without any problem.

As I mention, I used the Corsair Flash Voyager GTX USB 3.0 128GB (CMFVYGTX3-128GB).

This Flash Hard drive that you mention does not have a microUSB. So how could you possibly use such a cable to connect them? It cannot be done.

Please post a photo showing us how you connected the CMFVYGTX3-128GB to your AX100.

You did not mention earlier that you were using this specific product. It is not a normal flash memory key. It actually contains SSD memory and contains a SSD drive controller.

Both portable SSD and HD drives can be used with direct copy.

I'm using Sony Micro USB Cable to connect the aforementioned 128MB Corsair Flash Voyager GTX USB 3.0 128GB (CMFVYGTX3-128GB) to my RX100.

OK, that now makes sense. I see that you are using Sony's micro USB to standard USB adapter cable. Before you said you were using a micro USB to micro USB cable, which made no sense at all, since the Corsair SSD drive has no micro USB connector on it.

The link that you provided in your post is wrong, however, and goes to a different Sony cable, and is not the one that is shown in your photo. Here is a link to info on the correct Sony cable that is shown in your photo. This is the cable that people need to buy:

http://store.sony.com/usb-adapter-c...;sid=8vkR6dkzd-sS6YwkM-5w7ek5mO0kvrMnx66BpHHq

This Corsair SSD drive is fast for transferring data, but it really is not a practical or cost effective solution. For one can buy a 128 GB SDXC card for less money than that, and thus not have to even bother with using a cable or doing any transfer at all. Just switch to using a new card.

Even Sony's own SDXC card designed for the AX100 only costs $76 for 128 GB:

And for backup purposes, a small portable hard drive would be a far more cost effective solution. For one can get a very tiny 750 GB Western Digital Elements Portable hard drive for only $64, compared to $103 for your Corsair SSD drive. So it is 39% less expensive, while providing almost 6 times the amount of storage for backup that the Corsair has:

Thank you for the comprehensive reply.

WD maybe is cost effective, but heavier than Corsair. I'm going on vacation trip to Toscana Italy and I want to travel as "light" as possible.

Best regards,

Adam

If one is going on vacation and needs more storage for the trip, then simply buying another SDXC card, as I mentioned, is both less expensive, and also far lighter and more compact.
