Hi folks,

Captured these two Canadian Geese right after takeoff using the Pentax K-3 + Sigma 120-400mm APO OS HSM handheld at 400mm, f/7.1, 1/2500s, ISO500.

Very nice catch.

Very nice, Ron. Another iconic spring scene. I especially like these because both geese have wings down in such classic poses. I can almost hear the honkin' from their open bills...

Thanks for posting.

Perfect formation and composition, the 120-400mm also did well there!

That's a wall-hanger for sure, Ron!

Great capture Ron, worth printing for sure !

Nice pic... sharp, beautifully timed and composed. But I reckon it's somewhat underexposed. I see on this forum and a few others quite a lot of (what I consider) under exposed images. I played with it a little. I reckon this little adjustment gives it a little more drama and detail. No?

A pair of head-to-tail synchronized gees :-)

Nice shooting Ron!

Hi Ron, I have the smc DA 55-300 which I am quite satisfied for what it is. Recently I have been thinking to get the Sigma 120-400 for more reach and faster focus, which is being closed out for about $600 locally. I know my K-30 will not track as fast as your K-3, but still like to hear your experience of its tracking focus ability for BIFs. Thanks in advance.

Thankas Denisio.
But I reckon it's somewhat underexposed.
I disagree.

I suggest that it is your monitor,,,,not the images that are posted.

No.

The true scene is nothing like your redo of my image.

Thanks anyway.

That is a terrific price if it is the OS version. I can only recommend the OS version.

This Sigma 120-400mm OS HSM works great with my K-50. IMO it would also work great on your K-30.

Fantastic photo, that will look great on your wall. Brings back memories of hunting with my dad way back when. He would love that photo too.

Just want to point out those are Canada Geese, not Canadian Geese.
