I had been using the Olympus share app or whatever its called and turned the camera off from the app. Then I turned the actual power switch to off. Later when I went to turn the camera back on it did not. Pulled the battery and replaced then turned it back on. It did fire up after pulling the battery but concerned me a little that something might be afoot. Anybody else experience this? Hopefully only something to do with powering down via the app and not a larger issue.

So you had an empty or faulty battery, and replacing it fixed it. I don't see where the app comes in?

This is exactly what I did. It's only done it the one time that I happened to shut down from the app. I suppose I could do the same again to see what happens but I'd rather not toy with disaster.

where does it say there was an empty or faulty battery?
I read it as the battery got pulled, then the same one got put back in. Basically doing a hard reset.
I see.. he re-placed rather than replaced the battery! :-)

That basic issue is common with any camera and not only with batteries but with memory cards of any type.

It's all about intermittent bad contacts and a simple reseat or wiggle of the battery or card always fixes it, it's been with me with every brand camera for the last over 12 years now (for me) of digital cameras.

Sometimes of course it may be some sort of logical lockup that is fixed by removing the power for a few seconds when reseating the battery.

The app. thing was maybe just a coincidence there to confuse you. :-)
