It looks like the M3 does freeze the view but for a shorter time than the M2.OK, I see what you mean. Shot to shot time seems slightly quicker with M3 but it's difficult to tell for sure with these clips. I wonder why Canon didn't freeze the view like with M2.
I suppose that depends on your use. I personally have not had a problem with the between shots time on my M after turning off capture review, and others have proven that the M2 has even less time between shots so I would imagine in actual usage the M3 should be fine....was able to get rid of the problem satisfactorily?
Supposedly there is an option to switch OFF the display of reviewing on the LCD after each shot (which in theory should allow a substantial speed up), but is it sufficient - if working at all?

screen blackout depends on a few factors:Compare these videos
There is no screen blackout at all on M2 using touch shutter!
I hope the M3 will be improved from prototype to production model, but I doubt it.
PhotoKhan, something for you to look out for?
sure. I have no problems with it...was able to get rid of the problem satisfactorily?

Devastating? Really? Earthquakes are devastating, this is a minor inconvenience...actually devastating IFF this turns out true

depends on what one seeks & plans - IFF this is as bad as it looks like for the moment (sure, needs confirmation), then such a bad blackouts negate about all what I'd want from a MILC:Devastating? the M has far worse "standard" blackout - have you ever used an M?depends on what one seeks & plans - IFF this is as bad as it looks like for the moment (sure, needs confirmation), then such a bad blackouts negate about all what I'd want from a MILC:Devastating? whether or not such a bad blackout will also turn out catastrophic to C's plans to conquer certain markets, and to gain a dominant position there is of course much more complex,
- a lag-less performance;
- and a good tracking abilities with at least passable AF'ing speed+accuracy for fast, dynamic action shooting;
- or in other words - an excellent resposivity for non-static scenarios
not really.but...
...a failure to achieve them might indeed turn out to be devastating for career prospects of a CEO or two![]()
so, lets assume the best case scenario:screen blackout depends on a few factors:
your image review / preview settings. continuous versus single shot mode, and the speed of the SD card.
with a slow SD card in an M .. you can get an atrociously long black out time.
also this is with touch shutter - which is usually a non issue for screen blackout - how many times in a second are you touching the screen to get the next shot anyways?
On that video, the M is around 4-5 times longer, and it looks like the M2 is around 1 second, making the M3 around twice as fast to recover from a single shot touch shutter from the M2, and 4 or so times faster than the M.
However with settings changes, my blackout goes down to .5 seconds, and I believe the M2 shows a corresponding adjustment as well - but probably not as dramatic.

canon sells more rebels than anyone sells MILC's.. so why wouldn't they?Gotta maintain those Rebel sales!
