Hello, can you please tell me what is the difference between the two cameras, P600 and P610?

Thanks.

Did you not see this thread???

Imaging Resource states the differences:

"Nikon has updated the HD video recording on the P610, which now goes up to 1080/60p. Nikon also gives the camera a new in-camera Time Lapse Movie mode and an easy-to-use sweep panorama mode. The EVF on the P610 also gets a substantial boost with a 921k-dot-resolution display over the 201k-dot EVF of the P600, and the new camera features both GPS and NFC connectivity."

They are nice additions.

You have been helpful, thanks a lot.

P610 is newer. It has built-in GPS.

From what I understand, P600 did not have the "snap back zoom" button (very handy when finding an object with a full zoom).

Good question & good answers...thank you.

I'm shopping for a 2nd camera now to compliment my P900 and for my hubby to use.

Biggest improvements in the P610 over the P600 IMHO is a significant improvement in AF speed - especially in low light, and the auto sensor between the LCD and the EVF. To me, those are "everyday" improvements. I notice them everyday with every picture I take. P600 was OK when it came out, but has been far surpassed in usability by the P610 - IMHO anyway.

Peace.

John

It did, just like the earlier P510, P520 and P530 if I recall correctly. You just need to change a menu option. In my opinion the P610 is a much better camera than the P600 (see my previous reply).
It's easy to lose track of your subject when zoomed in, so many cameras now offer what's called a framing assist system. It's usually a button that widens the field of view of the lens, lets you reacquire your subject, and then automatically goes back to the previous zoom position. You can configure Snap Back Focus on the P600 (it's an alternate function of the zoom lever that's on the left side of the lens barrel), but it acts a little bit differently. Pressing the lever down pulls the lens back, but you'll need to push it back up to go back to the original zoom position. If you happen to tap another control on the camera before doing so, you're forced to manually readjust the lens to its previous focal length.
