Canon G5 Samples

Hello Gustavo. I suppose you did not post the pictures to
prove the quality of the Canon G5? We know about that already.
And those pictures could be taken by almost any camera.

I think you have more work to do. You need to make an effort, and take hundreds of pictures and try and learn something from experience. And remember that you have to make the pictures interesting for the viewer, either by the motive itself or by a good composition.

I'm afraid those pictures were not interesting at all. I hope you don't mind my being honest. I'm sure you can do better.

Hi Leif, every comments are appretiated, my idea was not to demostrate any profesional activity, just to show with some examlpes what the camera can do (almost in auto - P mode) I saw before in this forum examples from the G3 Camera (also non-quality or non-professional) and it was good for me in order to see what the camera can do, the sharpening , color ,etc.

I only had the G5 for a few hours, I hope I can go and take 100s of pictures and learn as you recommend.

I posted some pictures in photo.net I took some years ago with my A2E, search my last name (Schurman) in the directory, I would like to see your comments on those.

Thanks again, I'm not disappointed, really , all coments are good on order to learn.

Gustavo.

Come on, give this guy a break. He said in the title "G5 samples" not "G5 super night shot that will make your jew drop" ... so take it easy.

Gustavo,

It seems like it has quite a bit of noise there. Your files are pretty big so I didn't check them all, but in the picture with the cat in it, if you see the wall on the left of the picture you can acutally see lots of noise there. Maybe on high ISO? what ISO were you on?

No problem, .....all coments are welcome.

The pictures are big on purpose because I want the people to see every detail (as you did) .
as I downloaded from the camera I posted in the web.

I took all those pictures in ISO 50. It shouldn't have noise ...

recommendations ?

all your shots were taken just right before the noise reduction kicks in... let's try 1.3s or longer.. see how does the noise reduction perform... Nonetheless, i still think it's a bit high for ISO50.... it's just me.

I have to agree. G5 is NOISY camera. It is little bid disappointed to me. I took about thousand pictures in various conditions. The first big disappointemnt was CA, second the noise.
Only one usable ISO is 50.

It certainly shouldn't have noise -- that's what I really liked about the G series until the G5. I currently have a G5 and am returning it for a G3 (had to buy a G3, and will return the G5 when the G3 arrives -- I can't be without a camera for a week despite the noise!). Noise is a big part of the reason for returning it.

Anyway, the detail of the G5 is certainly better in well lit situations than the G3. If you could return your G5 for a G3, then do it. Otherwise, the G5 is still a good camera, and you will find that the detail is outstanding in certain situations.

hey, if you don't mind, could you take the same picture with the G5 and then again with the G3 and post them? I just bought a G3 and absolutely love it. However, I feel like I'm missing out on the extra MP. I think a lot of people would love to see several pictures of the same shot from a G3 and a G5.

Thanks....

Hello, Rybber.

I think that the G5 has colors more natural than the G3.

The G5 has more CA than the G3.

I explain:

In G3-g5 Outdoor Photos

The photos 4305-4304-4297, I believe that the colors are more natural with the G5 although but has more CA.

The photos 4293-4292-4286, have too much green color, the color is almost fluorescent and for my taste he is not natural.

You took the photos, as you think that they have the color more near the reality?

John :-)

I hope I didn't sound too negative Gustavo. I can see now that the pictures may be interesting because of the discussion about noise.

I have a Canon S50/5mp, and I too can see some noise even in my ISO50 pictures.

But the question is whether we see any noise when the pictures have been downsampled to fit the monitor or when printed. I would say in most normal cases the noise disappears, even at ISO 100. Unless you do cropping of a smaller part of the picture.

But I discovered another thing. You seem to have a dead pixel in your censor! Have you noticed that? You can see it in the picture of the candle and in the picture of the wall with the phone.
For some reason I can only see it in full size or zoomed down to 20%.
And it's possible that it won't show on a print.

I don't know if this is a reason for replacing the camera.
What do others here say?

This is the comparison that I have been looking for... Thanks!!!

You're right, the colors do look more natural on the G5, but hey, you have control over saturation in both cameras so it doesn't matter...

And I didn't take the comparizon photos...
