Nice captures - think this lens is a winner as is the camera.

Curious - any post processing done here? RAW capture? Which profiles applied?

Oooh la la, these are very beautiful images of a very pretty girl.

I have been thinking of getting the Sigma 50 1.4 Art (or the 35 1.4 Art) for the D750, but wasn't entirely sure how exceptionally well the 50 1.4 Art renders wide open, esp. for portraits, and whether it was worth getting it. Now I'm sold (also as it's certainly a league or two better than my old Nikkor 50 1.4 D). I love this combination of sharpness and very creamy bokeh shown here, this is just superb, including the colors and contrast (whatever pp was added).

I haven't tried out the Sigma 50 1.4 in store yet, but I assume that it is quite hefty? The 35 was already bigger and heavier than I had expected, feeling just about ok on the light D750 body.

I have read so much here on how clinical and technical the Sigmas 1.4 Art supposedly render in comparison to the supposedly "artistic" Nikkors at twice the price, and have to disagree based on what I have seen so far. The Sigmas 1.4 Art may have a precise sharpness and a transparency that the Nikkors may lack, but this doesn't make them inferior for creative photography. Their bokeh is really nice, too. The same goes for the images I've seen of the newly announced Sigma 24 1.4 Art. The images all look stunning, and at their price point these lenses are a steal (only drawback is their lack of weather sealing, oddly).

Thanks for posting!

Andrea

Cant argue with that :) Cute and such beautiful eyes. Glad she aint mine.... how could you say NO ! :) Seems a superb lens. It is reported to have focus shift on stopping down which put me off from buying one. So needless to say.. I am wondering if focus shift is or has caused you any problems ?

Thanks for the comments.. I am not using the Sigma Art 50mm 1.4f just the original version.

I am happy with the results. I can't give anything technical about it just that my focusing and bokeh look good. For the money I think its a good buy.

It has a little heft to it too, with the 77mm filter size.

My experience with the D750 is that more care is needed to obtain sharp images.. Either be ver y steady under 1/100 or increase the shutter speed at least 1/200 and of course you focus point needs to be on the closest eye.

Thanks, I was wondering whether it was the Art because you didn't mention it, but this is really very beautiful, much much nicer than my Nikkor D. Makes me wonder what the differences are between the original Sigma and the Art, as they seem both superb. If you have some more pics to share, please feel free to post them, such nice work is always appreciated. Maybe I should open a thread for a 1.4 Nikkor-Sigma shootout.

Glad you like the pics. I don't know what you mean by focus shift?

Craig,

If the stated exif can be believed there was no Sigma used for these shots, all Nikkors 50 1.4 G plus some others with the 85 ...

ahhh ok... well a lot of lenses suffer from it. It works like this... If you focus on a given spot, say on a ruler... as you stop down.. f2.8... f4... 5.6 ect you will notice the focus moves forward !

On a bad sample, this can cause back focus on stopping down.

thanks, I didn't know that. I have not tried to test the lens to see if its working like it should. But I can say I have not noticed a problem with focus, wide open or stopped down more.

Beautiful girl and nice shots, but please don't use that Perfectly Clear look with wax skin and unnaturally white (and enlarged?) eyes. It doesn't do her justice.

Very lovely portratits and good to see everyone enjoying it! On the bottom one is that all bokeh or has any blur been added? Love the focus on the eye and blue/blue.

The nikon lenses are on sale and it pushed me over the edge to order the 50 f1.4 for $396.95. $85 off and free shipping is fine with me.

I hate to be the one asking, but since this is not your child, do you have her parent's approval to post on public forums? I know it is not for personal gain but I also know I would not take it too kindly if somebody posted public pictures of my daughter without asking.
