I bought a new D3300 kit with 2 lenses, the 18-55 and the 55-200.
Scenario: using a tripod, set to AF, when focusing- the focus point in the viewfinder moves ever so slightly in the 1100 position. After releasing the button, the focus point will slowly move back to it's starting position. This does not change if selecting one of the other 11 focus points, and it does not matter what focus mode I'm using.
I changed out the lens, and when focusing, the 55-200 makes an audible noise like the something is momentarily binding.
I took the camera back and got an identical kit. This time, when using the 18-55, the focus points move in the direction of 1200, and then when releasing the button, the image in the viewfinder snaps/jerks back to it's original starting point. Shooting different objects makes no difference.
To be clear, it isn't the camera moving on the tripod, as I have pushed the button from many different angles with no change in the direction of movement of the focus pont, and this would not cause the mechanical noise with the larger lense.
The images appear to be fine, but if there is a problem with the camera, I'd prefer to take care of it while under return/warranty time frames.
Anyone else experience this or have an opinion.
TIA.
