5DS and 5DSR explained in detail

Thanks.

It's interesting to see more detail on these newest releases.

Interesting detail at the end that states the 1DX is the best camera in the Canon line for low light photography.

big files to play with in Photoshop what was that over 250 megs... my computer has not got usb3.0 Mmmm! argh i'll have to find a work around i guess.

Oh! by the way did anyone notice how vivid the colours were and how they made a point of showing this several times and the colour was quite striking.

Yep if you are not working in the 8 bit space but 16 bit tiffs, my dell studio will hate me!! it struggles with CS5 with the 5DMKII. i need to find some favourable comments from early adopters and what their computer systems are like.

I wonder how a 64 gig card will go with Raws? i guess we will get some good feedback over the next few weeks as people start to get their hands on the demo cameras.

Should be around 1,000 shots I guess. Not bad - though file size is one thing that turns me off these cameras. My storage is already pushing 6TB !!

Important points from the video IMO:

This camera can be used by nearly everyone for anything it seems. I half expected him to say the camera would be excellent for macro-shooting your newborn for hi-rez captures of every strand of peach fuzz on your baby's butt. Canon USA seems to be pushing hard to avoid pigeon-holing the camera (and reducing their market). :).

5Ds R is noticeably sharper than the 5Ds @ 100%.

The 5Ds & (R) do not repeat do not replace the 5D3 (and subsequently the 5D4). I think Canon's line-up is the best market segmentation of any manufacturer in FF cameras.

I have an internal struggle going on (no I do not need any help with it) trying to decide between a 4k monitor, the 11-24L or the 5Ds all at or over $3k. It's too good of a year for products. :)

Get the RAM up to 8 or even 16 Gb and things are a lot smoother ;-)

Many thanks--excellent video explaining the pros and cons of this new critter. My takeaways:

1. "similar output to some current medium format SLR and digital back cameras" but with 35mm lenses and ease in handling.

2. "does not replace the 5D III"

3. explains the difference between the 5DS vs. the 5DSR (ie: anti-moire pattern vs. ultimate sharpness)

4. 288 MB uncompressed 16-bit file--yikes!

5. straight print size of 20x30 at 300 dpi

6. The viewfinder actually crops the image at 1.3 and 1.6 or square.

Interesting new anti-vibration shutter and anti-flicker technology (I think these may be standard from now on). If not, why not? Heavier base plate. New shutter delay options.

I'm sticking with my 5D III bodies for now until we see if a 5D IV appears, but a heck of a new camera.

... even if one Canon guy said when the D800 came out that 21MP was enough and that the pixel wars were over. Indeed ...
Just look the wider perspective. Since then Canon has heavily introduced new lenses, really good lenses. So, that the new 5Ds owners can now actually put these megapixels into good use.

Thank you Le Kilt

i'm taking everything in im on 6 gig and a 450 gig hard drive with the dell studio was the bigest i could get at the time.
