What are the horizontal lines in the frontmost flower blossom?
 
Thanks Gordon for noticing the banding. This Old Coolpix has been giving me problems lately with focusing (a problem with this model) but I bought it use for next to nothing and when it works, the files are great. Waiting for Nikon to come out with a Small, Fast pocket camera with NRW or RAW capabilities. This might take some time.

must be from the west coast as I saw my first one the other day too... if youre not, then we are getting those along with snowdrops and also tons of saplings and buds on trees! unreal winter, although we have our suspicion that one more dump of snow might hit ;)

right on! from the gulf islands here-- i was just gonna go out to a conservancy just now, and it started pouring rain... dont have appropriate rain gear or want to soak gear ;)
