There are two wild otters residing at the park below my house. Have not used the Fuji 55-200mm for awhile and it was a good opportunity to take some shots of this loving otter couple:

Nice pictures.

Cute and cuddly, don't think the fish would agree..

It sucks to be lower on the food chain!

Great and lovely shots !!

If you can find it, there's a lovely book about otters titled "Tarka, the Otter" that we loved enough to name a boat 'Tarka'. It's surely out of print, but worth haunting used book sales to find.

Fabulous to see, lucky you to be able to get so close to these beautiful creatures - thanks for sharing.

Thanks guys. Spotted them at the park again this morning.

All of those photos are wonderful! I've never seen an otter in person (not even in a zoo, much less in the wild) so these beautiful, expressive shots were a real treat. Thanks so much for sharing them!

They're otterly adorable! You are very lucky to have this beautiful pair living in your neighborhood, posing for your photographs. Nice shots.

Thanks for the recommendation. I looked it up on Amazon and it sure sounds like a moving book based on the reviews.

Cheers,

E.

Thanks guys. It's dinner time - look at their razor-sharp teeth!

I never realized they had "hands" like that either. Kind of creepy and vicious looking when they're eating, aren't they? Luckily we have your other photo evidence to show that they're really quite adorable. :)

Great pictures thanks for sharing, just as a matter of interest are the pictures cropped a lot, they are nice and sharp. Raw or jpeg and if Raw which software did you use. Thanks Tony

Thanks, Tony.

I shot in JPEG with Velvia film simulation. I only adjusted the levels and did some cropping for some photos using iPhoto. I am pretty impressed with the Fuji 55-200mm.
