PART 2- This Week Through YOUR m4/3 2015.02.07 -PART 1

Well done. Is your camera moving during the exposure to avoid light trails?
Thanks Michael (love your work). When I first started to shoot Comet LoveJoy I was using my Oly 75mm but could only expose for about 3 seconds. However my first Comet ever so, I was pretty excited.

The shots were OK but I wanted a closer view so I purchased an Ioptron SkyTracker which was on sale for $300. This allowed me to increase exposure times up to a minute or more and use my Canon FD f/2.8 lens. I keep having to push back a new camera and lens purchases with all these accessory items but my G3 held up pretty good except for a lot of red channel noise which I doctored in LR.

Wow that was a long answer I guess I could have just said yes! :-D

I'll have to do some work on the raw file to see which I like better when cropped equally.
I'd be interested to learn what you conclude. I am of the opinion that digital zoom is useful for framing/focusing but that there is little discernible difference between that and a cropped full version

A very nice result!
Thanks Andrew, I love your portrait shot this week. I don't know how you did it but it looks like a studio shot.

Really interesting sequence and information. Who knew anemones fought, with the loser moving. Who knew they moved! Thanks.

Finally I got a turtle shot the way I wanted it....

It was hiding and sleeping under some hard corals...so I swam around to get a front shot, slowly descended and adjusted my strobes.. He woke up and swam right against me, so I pushed the button! 1/160,F5, Olympus PM1 with the 60mm Macro.

Thanks, Vlad! Bought this camera and housing as a special offer in 2013. Quite a step up from a compact...and also, a friend used me & my wife as guinea pigs for his newly developed UW Photo course. Highly recommended!

Thanks Jim. I have included a jpg of the orf file below to show the starting image. Aside from the usual manipulation of highlights, shadows, clarity, local tone mapping, noise reduction and highpass sharpening it was a lot of cloning, pushing, and airbrushing out of the background. About 2 h to do the background removal but I liked the result and that made it worthwhile for me. I think there are a couple of areas that would benefit from some touch up but otherwise a pretty decent shot from one that didn't have a lot of interest straight from the camera. Again, thanks for the kind words.

Thanks Andrew that's quite impressive. I need to go back and check some of my rejected shots to see if they can be salvaged. A lot of folks never imagine how much work can go into one photograph.

Part 3 now started.

Very peaceful vibe. So relaxing.

Nice atmosphere. I'm not sure I want the outside to be in focus or not.

Great blacks and reds in this... nice.

Now that's something different!

Really nice close up. Sharp too. Nice crop.

Some dramatic stuff in this set. Wll done. My fav is the sheer drop of #4.
