Which enhancements do you want to see in firmware 1.3 for the NX1?

Umm Usee, I don't see anything strange about where his post is. Are you using a linear view of the thread instead of the indented one? His post is where it is because he replied to asdfphotographer.
But he didn't reply one day ago and he didn't reply, before Jan Behrens and the others replied...
Right, because they were responding to your OP while he responded to asdfphotographer, so his post is under asdfphotographer's in the tree. When it gets flattened for the linear view it will look higher up. The linear view is messing with your head. Look carefully at who they are replying to, because that is the first determiner of the order, the time is secondary, it only is used to order posts that are both replying to the same other post.
In the linear view, you see all messages that are written after each other in the row they came in and the total amount of messages is also visible.

So, if a message is new, it should be:

1. the last, in the row that is displayed

2. add to the count of total messages.

-

What we have got here are messages, that were not counted earlier in the number of total messages,

despite their time stamp...

...so, they actually popped up (in this case one day for the one and 1 week for the other) and were counted after this time span, and influenced the order of the linear view.

This has nothing to do with the functionality of the threaded view...

...I'm not new to dpreview and had lots of discussions (viewed in threaded and linear view) and this time stamp and order mess did not happen before 2014.
...just download the page (in linear view), as it was before his comment slipped in:

https://www.wetransfer.com/downloads/b8e9febc3fe02bfcf7ca8f69a639c43d20150208110331/d79bb2

It has the wrong position and the wrong timestamp and is not from a (official) admin...

...and this happened not the first time.

This already occured in conjunction with a few other (mostly) new contributors (at least) in the Samsung forum...

-

B.t.w.:

I prefer the linear view...

...and the forum software also mentioned this new post, as new (like a new PM),

which wasn't there before.
Because it was new, it's about 1 day old now, it showed it like that for me as well.
It was shown as new, but popped up in a place that would have required a older date...

...and it had the time stamp of the older place despite it was new, and not counted in the total amount of messages in the thread, which is independent of the way you view it.

Why don't you download the evidence and see for your self?
It appeared several hours after I wrote this post:

http://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/55252256

...

and meanwhile, another post slipped in (on page three the post from "OdinDP" - with a time stamp that says one week!), as you can see if you look at the first post of the page four of this thread...
That's because it's been there for a week now, I read it a week ago.
Sorry, I don't believe you in this case, because of the evidence I showed, where this post wasn't shown one week ago, and influenced the order of the linear view and the total count of this thread today and NOT a week ago...

...just read what I wrote and download the evidence, to see for your self.
...now it is the post from "Sisung",

a hour ago it was the post from "shoot me" and before that, it was the post from "Jan Behrens":
All checking out to me.
Want to see this example:

http://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/3791553?page=5#forum-post-55256012
https://www.wetransfer.com/downloads/b8e9febc3fe02bfcf7ca8f69a639c43d20150208110331/d79bb2

And here you can download the evidence, that OdinDP post slipped in this thread on page three, after a whole week!:

https://www.wetransfer.com/downloads/0f7e04ffa9c78c8336e481f3f74bb6aa20150208124817/9b6644

...you see,

there is much work to do for the admins and the responsible persons for dpreview... ;-)
There is, the forum software could use a lot of changes, but this is actually working as intended.
Is it really so hard to see the evidence?

B.t.w.:

This is post number 80...

...the last post on page 4 in linear view.

When viewing captured images at magnified view, I would like to be able to navigate to the next image at the same magnification and the same region. And when I delete a photo from magnified view, it advances to the next photo (or previous if was the last in the group) with the same view and magnification. I realize this is unique to the type of shooting I do, and/or those who do a lot of rapid shooting of fast moving subjects at sporting events and must cull a lot of bad images in camera before transferring to computer.

Hope I don't missunderstand, but I think at least one of the things you mention you can do with NX1.
You can zoom in with Command dial 1, and navigate to the next image at the same magnification and the same region with Command dial 2.
Hello ttbek,

according your theory, this post should be displayed NOT as the last in the linear view (at the top of page 5) and not counted to the total number of messages within this thread (the number of this post is 81)...

...is this the case or, not?

-

I see this post now, as the first on page 5 and right behind the last on page four (post number 80):

http://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/3791553?page=4#forum-post-55255982

-

At the moment both of my posts are right behind each other...

...and now?

-

Your explanation just doesn't fit...

...but the files,I uploaded, that provide the evidence of my claim, do.

-

B.t.w.:

here you can download the threaded view for reference:

https://www.wetransfer.com/downloads/79f670110261dc79dca3ab398406e0b020150208164155/cf49ba

..at the moment - as expected and if something strange is happening again, or you will make some Q+A tests, it is a nice reference to have. ;-)

...

and now, we can safely go back to the hopefully well appreciated topic,

which obviously had the need to add those hints. :-P

Well,

at least since firmware 1.2, it seems obvious, that Samsung is paying attention to their constructive acting customers.

So, it may help to start a thread which is exclusively for collecting those wishes...

...without disturbing comments... ;-)

-

Wishes I heard in the past come to mind:

- different noise reduction settings for all ISO sensitivities, for JPG and video.

- the possibility to completely deactivate the (re-) focus function of the shutter button in every mode.

- to move the focusing aid field across the frame in conjunction with adapted manual lenses.

- to switch off the rear screen whilst remote controlled.

- level aid and histogram displayed at the same time

- a copyright info preset for the image files

- 12 bit / 14 bit selectable for all modes

- bracketing order selectable: 0,+,- ; -,0,+ ; +,0,- ; +,-,0 etc...

- timer in conjunction with bracketing
Some additions that came up in this thread (mostly copy and paste without comment):

- save RAW when using remote viewfinder. Not to transfer but to save to SD card.

- even further improved AF

- Eye detect focus

- a backup for the settings before the firmware is updated.

- focus peaking toggle when using manual lenses

- True Bluetooth support! (Pairing to iPhone without crippling the internet connectivity of the phone) Support Bluetooth without NFC!

- improved 2.35:1 crop line marks for filming, they are a bit thin when filming. would be better to be able to block off the complete area on screen (But record everything so the footage can be stabilized.

- a "livebulb"view mode for longtime exposures

- i would like to have a Raw HDR mode, where you can automatically produce a HDR jpeg but still have the Raws...

- longer exposure time than 30s in every mode

- software zoom for video

- option of lower resolution RAW files, Eg 16mb

- lens micro adjustment (if that helps the hybrid AF)

- it would be nice if Samsung could implement a x1/5 speed mode for 1080p 24Hz.

- it would be great if a 240fps were available at 1080 and 720 as well.

- AUTO mode should not be restricred to JPEG

- In manual focus mode I could set the rotation sensitivity and direction for each lens

- In focus aid mode I could set the manification rate at a 1-10x scale. Magnification should not happen in the centre of the frame, but I could set the centre of magnification anywhere on the frame

- colour of Focus peeking should not be limited to 3, but I could pick a coluour from a matrix by a touch. There should be an auto mode to focus peeking that analyses the colours and offers a high contrast colour automatically

- when playing back pictures that were taken by AUTO WB or by Manual WB, I would like to see the actual WB Kelvin figure of that picture

- bigger resolution on the remote screen.

- Ability to claibrate the display colours on the back screen (colour taken is correct when viewed at a calibrated monitor, but incorrectly appears on the back screen - ceratin pink-purples, aquamarine green-blues)

- Allow individualised menu layouts. I prefer to get back to the old NX10, 1000 etc menu setup. I hate scrolling down in a long list to find the item I am looking for. For me it is easier to flip between Setting 1-4 tabs for example, and then pick one item. I know what I am looking for will be in the second row on 3td tab of Settings. Withe the long scroll menu type I have to read everything and then pick.

- I would LOVE 120fps 4k video

- 300fps @ 1080p

-
the option to use a phone (or tablet) as external mornitor via usb

- lower selectable fps rate 4, 6 fps

- compatibility (hint) with Lexar cards:

http://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/55011555

- it would be nice to be able to tune the level at which zebra stripes (indicators for clipping) show

- real time live view during burst shooting

- please allow for decoupling of the two displays (evf and rear display) so that when using evf for live view the rear display can be used, e.g., to review images or else.

- A shortcut to set movie size and speed

- To have the video/ photo resolution and frame rate saved in the custom mode. I'd have the 30fps UHD on C1 and be able to switch to 1080/60 or 120 or whatever just be turning the dial.

-
  • Remembering an autofocus setting for movie mode (e.g. using the currently selected autofocus setting instead of always automatically switching back to autofocus)
  • Add a "focus once" option, where the camera is set to manual focus, but a single press of the AF ON button (or touching the screen) makes the camera (re-)focus once and then turn back to manual focus mode
  • Allow the exposure-value (EV) to be reset without tediously turning the wheel back to 0.0 [maybe there is another way that I missed?]
  • Possibility to disable the program shift in program mode
  • Make auto-exposure-lock (AEL) also work in manual mode with auto-ISO
  • Button customization allowing you to enter the MF Assist mode without turning the focus ring
  • Smoother adaption of display brightness [the current firmware makes it sometimes look like flickering]
  • Less sensitive (smoother) UI behavior regarding scrolling through menus via touch-display [see problem description in my review]
- have h.264 codec in addition

- I'd like to see MF assist and focus peaking still work when using HDMI out to monitor video recording. On 1.2, both of those are disabled when you hook up an HDMI monitor for live monitoring.

- Shutter Angle option for video

- Ability to shoot to the Gamma DR with black level adjustment, while viewing the regular Rec.709 image. Easier to shoot a flat image this way, something that’s not offered on the GH4 or the A7s that would put the camera at an even further advantage.

- A true log video mode, even if it’s locked to a certain ISO, for us nutcases that want the most out of the sensor.

- Custom Focus aid zoom, Would like the option to be a little further out.

- Waveform while recording video.

- Detail/Refresh Rate option for Viewfinder: In dark environments the viewfinder will drop resolution to keep up refresh rate. I would like the ability to adjust this by preference with a slider in the menu to prioritize one or the other.

...

please pick what you want...

...my personal favorite is 300 fps! :-)

-

P.S.:

This post is number 82, right behind my other two posts...

80:

http://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/55255982

and 81:

http://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/55256012

...and second on page 5 right after my post 81 (in linear view)...

...just in case... ;-)

Hey Usee, I get it now. I guess I made a bad assumption about how the flat view worked, it seems to just be straight up linear (I never use it on DPR and made the bad assumption that it was more like a list representation of an ordered tree... like on some other sites). Anyway, the reason for those posts appearing back up the line is that these posts are from new users and new users have their initial post/posts moderated. So the post actually was made a week ago, or whatever for each one respectively but was sitting in some moderators queue until it got approval, but when it's approved it's not re-time stamped for the approval time, so it's not going to the end of the flat view. I almost forgot about that moderation period, heh.

So, your claim that you have had read the post from OdinDP one week ago, was wrong:

"That's because it's been there for a week now, I read it a week ago."

...never mind, I knew this, because you can't have read it one week ago, because it appeared today, as one can see due to the evidence I provided.

-

I think, that you mostly write reliable things, so, please try to keep this standard up.

-

B.t.w.

I will investigate this issue further and ask the admins, what really happend here,

because one week to moderate a comment from a new member seems unlikely...

...especially if those many doubtful comments from older members are almost always NOT moderated...

...and a backdoor in the forum software should not stay open...

...and admins, who misuse their power to write comments under wrong names and / or put them into a thread to their liking (in stealth mode in a foreign forum) should be banned.

-

We will see... :-D
