Obviously would love a New Retina 27inch IMac or at least A New IMac with low glare screen

I have the option of buying from a good friend and fellow Photographer his old 2009 27 inch IMac

3.06 ghz

16 GB of Ram

1 TB HD

An Optical Drive

it is the older highly reflective Screen but it is IPS Active Matrix 16.9 Ratio

he is asking $700 for it

Has anyone used this IMac With Photoshop and Lightroom?

feedback please

i will eventually buy a high end new Mac but this would let do sone serious editing vs my old 17 inch Mac Powerbook

Also—and I don't see this mentioned much—iMacs (all of Apple's displays, as far as I know) are only capable of displaying sRGB gamut.
Is this really true? If so, then what would be the point of shooting in RGB if you do editing on an iMac?

For the comfort of knowing that those of us with aRGB monitors can see colors in your photos that you can't, perhaps? :)

Unless you're a jpg/tiff shooter, nobody shoots "in RGB." Raw doesn't have a color space. The camera's gamut is way more even than Prophoto RGB. The color space is designated upon conversion.
