what if you want to print 3.5" x 5" prints on epson 875dc? Special paper available? or cut and trim? Doing research before going whole hog. Thanx

I ordered some legal size gloss photo paper from Red River. By trimming the photos using the ofoto.com assistant to 4x6 my various printing packages seem to be able to print full 4x6 with only a little cutting on my paper cutter.

Jim, do you know of any other maufacturers who sell legal-size heavyweight glossy photo papers? How do the Red River papers compare to HP Premium Plus? Would you mind describing some of your experiences with various papers? Thanks.

I haven't received any yet. My order has cleared customs but no sign of it yet. Other references on this forum indicate it is excellent so I'm looking forward to it. I've got a problem with the HP Premium Plus paper, the rubber wheels leave marks under the photo which really distracts me from the issue of quality. I won't buy HP again. The only paper that seems to provide reasonable gloss prints on my printer is the JetPrint from Hammermill.

That's interesting, Jim. What HP model do you use? I have an HP970 and found the best paper for me so far is the HP Premium Plus Matte and Glossy.

The premium Kodak has a sticky feel to both sides, and the black areas stick quite easily to clear poly photo protector pages (Avery). The Jet Print that I tried leaves a white-ish hazy appearance over the black areas -- horrible! And I wasn't overwhelmed with the Epson papers.

I was limited by what I could find in the home-office discount chain stores in my area as to what brands and types of papers I could test. In general, the HP performed the best. The only time I've had problems with the HP glossy paper getting roller marks is if printed to the top half of the sheet, then rotated it and made another print on the bottom half. I don't do this anymore. And when placed in poly pages, it sticks the least.

When you finally get to use the Red River paper, please post your opinions. Thanks. Rich (C2020Z, HP970, soon to have an E-10 and a C2100UZ ! ! !)

I like the general printing on the HP Premium Plus Glossy, but the roller marks are distracting. I intend to try the matte but haven't found any to try at a reasonable cost. The JetPrint is not great I agree, but it was better than the Epson glossy and no roller marks. I use the Epson Heavyweight Matte paper for some of my routine printing (building construction progress shots) but the saturation seems a bit off some times and darka reas are too dark.

Will let you know how I like the Red River Paper. I don't think I'll buy a lot of the Red River paper unless its outstanding because of the high shipping, currency exchange and customs pending to ship to Canada.

Order the sample pack of Red River Paper. Its only $10 and
has 2 sheets of each paper. Some surfaces have the feel
and weight of true photographic papers. Good stuff!

Chose not to order the sample pack. It would have cost me $20 to ship! I ordered a pack of the 32# legal size premium high gloss inkjet #8504 and other than being a little light weight. I love it. I'm using it to speed up printing 4x6 prints. Four 4x6 prints fit very nicely on the legal size paper on my HP970. Everyone I shown them to can't tell them from "real" photos. Other than the weight. But when mailing them to relatives this is a real bonus.

The finish is excellent and no roller track marks! The gloss is slightly less than the HP Premium Plus Gloss but I like it better because there is a lot less reflection and the photos are easier to look at.

If only this paper was available directly within Canada. The high shipping and exchange costs is hard to stomach.
