Is no one interested in the NX500??

I know some unrealistically expected Samsung to leave their plans behind and produce a EVF NX hundred series, but put that aside I would think many would love to get the NX1 sensor in a small, light body.

I am surprised that few here have expressed much interest! I really enjoy the NX300 and very much look forward to the NX500.

Nope. No evf = no interest from me. I am tired to use big and unconfortable loupes to achieve what a camera at this pricepoint should give me out of the box.

Nope. It doesn't fit a need or interest I have. I don't care the name or number. I want an EVF. That's why my 2 smaller cameras are the Sony RX100M3 and X100T. Why are both of those models successful? One big reason is they good sensor and EVF. NX500 is already down one leg. I shoot outside a lot. Without an EVF I'll just use my Note 4 cell.

I'm very much interested in what the successor to the NX300 will be.

I am with you, I would buy one or two instantly. And that 16-80 lens, as well as the 11-24/2.8 .

Regards

It was not really around long enough for anyone to get really interested in it.

On pre-order and scrapped so quickly most people did not notice. Of course it would help if Samsung made some sort of statement but that is not going to happen.

As with many things in life a great photograph has strong appeal for what is NOT in the picture.

Not really. NX1 is better, and just slightly more expensive. :)

To be honest, NX1 and NX500 are so expensive that I am not ready to pay the price some 25year old marketing guy invented when smoking dope with his boss. :)

Putting the joke asside, NX300 is a very good camera and super cheap an small. So considering buying one once NX500 is out and price of NX300 drops to 200 EUR level - to keep it in my jacket all the time. I can not have NX30 on all the time, but would not mind carrying the NX300 24/7.

I am interested in nx500 and nx2, both equally mythical and out of my budget. Later next year though, I'm all ears :-)

I paid about $300us around the holidays and $175 for the 30/2, it is indeed a nice 24/7 duo!

I do not believe there is lack of interest, except that the nx300 successor is not there yet. I'm sorry that people were misled to believe that successor would come this January brought by some irresponsible sites by spreading stupid rumors. point is being do not expect too much from rumors and just wait til product is actually there. then we can talk about this new camera all day.

The NX500 was about to be introduced...detailed specifications were out and a couple of sales outfits were taking sales orders. Then suddenly and mysteriously the NX500 was cancelled. Was this because of the close dialog between Samsung and DPR?

Many enthusiasts were demanding an EVF but the NX500 didn't have one.

Samsung's stated purpose is to take over the world APS-C market, but they never will with EVF-less cameras.

I own the current champ, the high-class but aged Sony NEX-7 which has an EVF. I also own a NEX-5R which has an EVF, a tilting touchscreen with touch focus and touch shutter. There's no going back for me, and the A6000 doesn't cut the mustard.

Will Samsung finally introduce an NX 500 with an EVF?

Since the camera has not been announced, those "pre-orders" were jumping the gun and violating their NDAs. That is the most likely reason for them being taken down, not the camera is somehow being withdrawn or delayed.
So where is it? I've never seen anything like this before.

there was never an announcement nor teaser from Samsung. I wonder why some people kept on assuming that rumors from certain sites that claim thru their "reliable sources" are true. remember that site that spread lies that Samsung is going to drop the NX1 price in January? a lot of people were misled by that article. anyway I would say that the rumors for the price drop and NXxxx successors announcement in January were already very unreliable and questionable even before they began. there were no basis. just damn claim they get the leak from their "reliable" BS source.
I never said there was an "announcement nor teaser from Samsung."

That's a good question, but will it be enough for us Nex7ers to sacrifice our E-lens collections? I doubt it.

If NX500 should come with a good built-in EVF, otherwise as romoured, it would be my first Samsung camera. All NX have had a lot going for them, but have also been a little behind the best in a few respects that are important to me. NX1’s sensor has overcome the biggest hurdle for Samsung to become a strong contender. Now they just need to get their product lines right.

I find NX500 rather awkward in its positioning. It has a superb sensor that passionate enthusiasts appreciate and are happy to pay a premium for. Yet, by its name, it’s a mere upgrade to the undervalued NX300, and the lack of EVF strengthens that low-mid range perception.

Giving it NX1’s EVF, on the other hand, would go a long way to boost NX500’s image and transform it into a strong contender in the premium compact market against the likes of X-T1, EM1 and GH4. It would also establish the NX-n00 line in that higher market segment that Samsung has failed to break into in any significant manner.
