"75-300 IS" - photos anyone

Gee. I was hoping someone would ask. It works for me. 300mm at about 35 yards:

Check the bigger version; a little CA, a mushy bit on the left side, but it does focus on my camera, as you can see from the inset:

Similar view at 220mm:

Original resolution, but compressed for web to about 1mb:

I think there are some more in the Pbase gallery, check the image info. Certainly not a wonderful lens, but usable for me until I decide what I really need. It is a little better at 200mm than at 300mm, and not so hot wide open.

Such is life.

unfortunately i have only slides that i took this week showing the 75-300IS. what i can tell you is that for the price, the weight, the size, and the range this lens is well worth it!

i do find that although the 70-200 2.8IS is hands down a nicer lens; it's just not one i would wander around with on a day trip, but with the 75-300IS ---> i slap that baby on and walk around all day long with no fatigue.

sorry no pics but hope the info helps.

Thanks everyone for sharing your photos. I am about to buy this lens.. or at least I believe I am looking at the same (or similar) lens. The one I am looking at on B&H is the Canon Zoom Telephoto EF 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 EF IS Image Stabilizer USM Autofocus Lens (389 after rebate). Is this it? I am impressed with the images being shared here if that is the case. I usually use L or ED glass on the Canon's and Nikon's I use for work -- but this is my pocketbook now. Appears to be a decent lens for the money.

I "have" a 28-200 but when my wife took over my hand-me-down D30 the lens went with it. I shoot almost everything locally with a 70-200 2.8 IS and wish for nothing more till I head to Europe and then it's too darn heavy on my 1D soooooooooooo I'm looking for a vacation lens. The 28-200 is a nice vacation lens but I hate to buy a second one.

If anyone is interested in 28-200 images these images of Provence were all shot with it on a D30.

I guess the EXIF is correct. I shot it last October I believe just after I got the camera. I have tinkered with the file.
