Hey guys I'm always on the look out for old OM lenses to use with my Sony NEX system camera, I love the quality of the OM glass and compact size of the lenses. I came across the OM 20mm f2, 80mm f4 and 135mm f4.5 macros, I also got the telescopic auto ext tube 65-116 auto belows and a varimagni view finder, all boxed and look hardly used. I didn't pay that much for them and knew they'd be worth more so if I didn't like them or thought the set up was too much hassle I could just sell them on at no loss or perhaps make a profit.

Having had a play with the kit I think it may be a bit specialized for me almost all the macro stuff I do is in the field and this is definitely not the kit for that!

I cant find much info on the 20mm f2 in terms of value, there is just one for sale that I can find anywhere, (i'm guessing its pretty rare) just now and the persons is asking silly money at £650/$1000 for it which is well over 10x what I paid for the thing. Anyone have a realistic value for the 20mm f2?

I paid $700 for my 20mm f2 years ago and have seen them listed for more.

I've done a lot of outdoor hand-held shooting with both of those macros on the 65-116 tele tube, with vey good results on my 4/3 and FF cameras. The 80mm gets you to 1:1, and with good technique very sharp results can be achieved. The 135mm offers excellent working distance from live subjects, and works quite well with the OM 1.4x and 2x teleconverters. I often shoot this lens on my 5D3.

An alternative to resale:

While the varimagni is a museum piece and useless on any digital camera all three macro lenses are really good if you invest in a metabones speedbooster - there are some fine examples of what you can achieve with it and longer focal length OM macros elsewhere on this forum (or maybe it was the micro FT forum).

You'll have to pay around US$ 329 for an OM-Sony metabones speedbooster.

Very interesting! Perhaps I'll sell the 20mm f2 and keep the rest for a bit and do a bit of experimenting, I already have a sigma 50mm f2.8 macro an Elicar Vhq 90mm f2.5 and Raynox DCR150 so if the ons are more usable that these I might just keep them and sell the others instead

you can find detailed info on each of the OM macro system components here
