I take Several Photo With different Aperture Setting And This one Was The Sharpest

But Please download And Compare Both Image

Galaxy s4 Photo IS Clearly a Winner

Of course in Low Light Canon G16 Is Better but I Expect A lot More From G16

Why should i Spend Money On G16 When I Can Get Better Photo With My Phone!!!

This is Not Make Any Sense!

Your right it is no sense. The galaxy image lacks in DR and has blown the highlights and crushed the shadows, I will take that G16 one any day.

Edit: It appears that the two images were taken at slightly different times of the day, so I retract my statement, there is no way to compare these images.

i take this two photo in the same day

g16 photo taken around 2pm and s4 photo around 3pm

if you take a look at both pictures it is obvious that s4 image have less noise and also sharper

Being both a smartphone and compact camera owner, I have done many many of these type of comparisons.

Take a smartphone photo in good daylight then try to match the image with a P&S with same SS, Aperture, iso and angle of view etc. The smartphone usually wins!!!

Use the optical zoom. Smartphone loses.

Light levels are not ideal. smartphone loses.

Try controlling sutter speed to freeze movement. Smartphone loses.

Chose Aperture. smartphone loses.

Auto WB goes wrong. smartphone loses.

Overall user experience and satisfaction in taking snaps. smartphone loses.

I use the smartphone to be more discreet or when P&S battery dies.

Now try smartphone against a real camera (G16 or EOS M, whichever) at 8pm. Or across a table in a restaurant. Or of a band on stage.

Smartphone cameras are fine in a pinch, but they simply stink when it comes to anything worse than daylight/bright indoor situations. They're great when you know they're strengths (go anywhere, always on you) and their limitations (no zoom, poor to awful low light, LED flash is usually the only option...)

Just because you can't imagine of a situation where a real camera does a better job doesn't mean it doesn't.

at infinity focus, broad daylight, the sun is not shining into the lens, all is fine. IQ is perfectly acceptable on both for screen viewing...

For my taste, the phone will lack in operability: harder to pick focus point, auto exposure a pain to override, inability to control shutter speed for freezing motion, or for allowing motion. The G16 will offer direct controls. The ISO button and exposure compensation button / dial are the most important imho. And it has a zoom lens.

But when the night falls....

The phone will not cut it at all, no way to get a long exposure, no ISO high enough to freeze motion, inability to focus....

Here is a daytime pic from a Pentax Q, the original one with a sensor smaller than the G16 (i think). Try that on a smartphone....

The Q will also give me flash at shutter speeds up to 1/2000 with the pop-up.

I'll play devils advocate and say that in many situations, the algorithm of any particular camera can be hard to guess and occasionally leads to the most unusual results. One example: the Olympus Tough series of cameras are waterproof, shockproof, and take usually terrible photos. They are actually fine from a distance or on the LCD, but once blown up even a little, the graininess, smearing, problems with color, etc... show up quickly. Yet, once in a while, they take better photos than my mirrorless setup. On a recent trip to Mexico, I took some photos with an A6000, a top of the line middle-range enthusiast APS-C mirrorless, and my wife took some with a basic Olympus Tough (not even the top of the line TG-3). Her photos turned out better all around. This is not typical behavior - mostly the Tough photos do not come out great compared to the A6000. I wonder though, if being a waterproof camera, the Tough was optimized for the beach? I can cite similar examples with cell phones, cheap P&S, etc... I cannot explain why either, sometimes a camera just shines.

I have an S4 myself and while I think it's a fine camera phone, I find that the images it produces look a bit oversharpened straight out of camera - they have this blotchy impressionist look at 100% that is the result of oversharpening. The Canon looks better, in my view. For everyday snaps, the S4 is fine, though. I think camera phones are good enough to replace most small sensor compacts, but this comparison isn't kind to the S4.

I must say that detail and sharpness is about better on my THL5000 phone camera than on G15 I had. Some lenses of Canon compact cameras are really visibly poorer. We're comparing relatively poo..long zoom fast lens against sony f/2.0 prime, right? It should be expected to deliver better result at this single focal lenght. Of course I can't do raws, it hsndles poorly, an once it gets darker, it's all miserable. But for cheap small phone camera, it is awesome. I hope in bigger sensors in phone cameras...

I also have the M, and of course it smokes all these phone cameras..

The first Samsung photo says the capture date is Dec 30 2014, the other Canon photo says the capture date is Mar 1 2014, if they were both taken on the same day, which day is it?

Exposure and colour on the S4 is poor. The G16 is vastly superior in that repect

Well, my camera doesn't come with a monthly fee ;)
