Hi, interested in using Adobe Lightroom. I am a UK resident. When I try to access the Adobe UK site I receive a Error 404 message and can nether read about Lightroom nor, more importantly, download the trial. Doesn't fill me with confidence!

Any suggestions as to the problem and how to overcome it? Many thanks.

Try downloading from the USA site.

I am in the UK.

All of the following URLs are fine for me (testing at 27/12 21:43GMT):

http://www.adobe.com/uk/

http://www.adobe.com/uk/products/photoshop-lightroom.html

https://helpx.adobe.com/uk/lightroom.html

http://www.adobe.com/uk/products/photoshop-lightroom/features.html

.

and

http://www.adobe.co.uk

also resolves to

http://www.adobe.com/uk/

.

What URL is giving you a 404?

If you get 404 for any of the above, it could be your ISP DNS server. You just need wait for that to be fixed at your ISP if that is the case.

Many thanks one and all. Interesting, I still get a Error 404 on most Adobe pages, yet on no other web site. Yes, I can download the trial from the US site, but if I am to have confidence in Adobe's product and purchase (as distinct from a purchase from Amazon UK) then I want to solve this issue. This is especially so as I would be a new user and would wish to access the tutorials I believe are on their site. Indeed, I want to access them to evaluate the programme.

Very strange! Will keep trying.

I do not understand what is happening. The URLs I gave you are all active for me (at least on both Win/IE, and Mac/Safari) - and Adobe actually does not have a UK site (as in .co.uk) - those pages I get as a UK visitor are actually on adobe.com (the US site).

Adobe does use complex technologies on their pages, so there is dynamic testing of browser, location, etc., with scripting, so it could be something in your browser for that. Are you using latest browser versions, and what anti-virus/firewall software do you have enabled?

.

You are asking about product info and tutorials, well there is only one version of LR - so any tutorials on the proper US site and any downloads are valid (= the same) for UK also. There is no special trial install for LR - it is a trial licence. So you can download and install from these links:

http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5857

http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5856

.

The official Adobe tutorials are then from Julianne Kost and are linked from her blog:

http://www.jkost.com/lightroom.html

Those are from tv.adobe.com, i.e. are always from the main adobe.com site anyways. There is no UK-based (as in .co.uk) official Adobe tutorials that I know of.

I think your problem is local to you.. i.e. your browser, anti-virus, ISP, proxy or VPN you are using, or something like that. I do not think it is adobe issue per-se.

Try clearing the cache in IE sometimes when you get a 404 error it just keeps reloading from the cache.
