Hope you all get the lens you want this Christmas and have a healthy and successful New Year, wherever you are on the planet. Santa is over Kabwe, Africa as I write.

You too mate. Good shots there. Enjoy yourself.

Two shots from recent Chanukah celebrations in Brighton UK (last weekend):

Very interesting and well-taken shot of the match-head.

Cheers,

Nice natural image that definitely benefits from being seen larger.

Bit of a hodge podge

Nice - really like "distracted"

I'm currently working my way through some Brighton shots too. These are good comps but they seem very noisy on my monitor.

Some good stuff in here Mark, 1, 3, 6, 9, 10 and 13 stand out. 13 is a lovely capture. I'd have a go at painting out some of the noise on her face.

Thank you for your reply. I am glad that you liked them. The contraption the used at the Botanical Garden to make a water curtain cries out "Budget Cut". Hence the water flow stays put for most of the fall, like showed in the photo which looks like a flowing river, then explodes at one foot from the ground. That's where the fun starts.

Your remark made me experiment with different displays. Ipad I, Ipad III with retina, Imac high rez 27", Note 3 and Asus TF300t. Each did a fair job with the original, the best being when the photo size does not exceeds the resolution of the display. In every case, the image that Dpreview uses within our posts is just a blur.

To the pleasure of seeing more of your work.

Yes - esp the top one. Not helped by post processing as it was under-exposed. It's also quite a crop because I was a fair distance away. Both also suffer from being shot as JPEGs - I'm clear after last weekend that the D Lux/LX100 really needs to be used raw-only.....

Have a great Xmas

The under exposure probably did them in the most. Still the relationships between the tones make them most attractive, to say nothing of the documentary aspect about what is certainly the most pro-active Hanuka I ever seen or heard of. :D

Hey, hey! :-) Ain't the internet great. You inspired me to Google Santa Tracker and I am watching him in real time on my other monitor as I type. He is headed for Cayenne, French Guiana. in three minutes. He has delivered 4 trillion 395 million presents and counting fast. :-D

When you think of it, it is kinda amazing that he always made time to stop and eat the cookies and milk we left for him.

Thanks.

Kentucky Bourbon, namely Weller Antique. It's a good inexpensive bourbon out of Buffalo Trace.

Thanks. A very light overcast prevented the sensor from puking on the lack of contrast in a blue sky.

Thanks.

It houses a nice circular foyer. The centerpiece is a hanging globe.

Thanks. The light makes the photo.

I love the winter light.
