I need to replace my MD mount adapter it was very cheap(around £5/$8) the mechanism doesn't sit in place without it being prodded before putting it on the body. It is a little loose even then.

what sort of price is reasonable for a decent one? What are the signs of decent ones?

What is tthe benefit of a speed booster?are the metabones and zhongyi any different?

By "MD" I assume you mean the Minolta MD mount. My MD to E adapter is a Fotasy which I purchased from Amazon for about $16US plus shipping. So far it's worked fine on my A6000.

You just got a bad one, it happens. I use mostly Fotga or Fotasy. I have over a dozen without issues. The speed booster is suppose to increase the amount of light on the sensor when using a FF lens on a asp-c body.

I agree. Manufacturing tolerances. I have an OM adapter from Fotasy that has a similar issue. I'm just super careful when I mount that lens.

I have had no issues with my big_is adapter.

Thanks all, no need for a speed boost then. Just need to order a new adapter. The old one is perfectly usable in the meantime and may infect get permanently attached to one of my (very cheap) but useful primes.

I had a cheap one and it was OK but I wanted something with a tripod mount that could unscrew so spent much more on a FotoDiox one. It's much much better and worth the extra money. There wasn't much wrong with the other really but the quality gap was huge.

I have the cheapest no-brand name MD-NEX adapter and it was snug with some older Minolta lenses and somewhat loose with newer lenses.

I used a fine blade to pry open the adjustment gap inside the adaptor, making sure to force-open the three gaps just a little every time. It is perfect now.
