The Golden Hour (pic)

ISOMatrix,

Thanks for a photo from the old neighborhood. I grew up in Ephrata and am partial to basalt and sagebrush photos. If you have never visited, check out Frenchman Coulee near Vantage. It is a delight at sunset.

You are blessed to be able to live in such a wonderful part of the country!

I may need to make a third business trip out to WA again in August. This time in the Yakima area. Can't wait to see what awaits me there!

Hi ISOMatrix,

What in the world business are you in that takes you to Waterville and
Yakima? Those are pretty out of the way places!

Eastern Washington scenery is a delight, although I sometimes think it is an

acquired taste. Most people think of Washington as the Evergreen State and forget that the eastern half is a huge desert.

I'll try to think of some suggested photo opportunities in the Yakima area.
I just drove through there a couple of weeks ago.

LoL, I've been doing technical support w/ Point of Sale technologies at the Food Pavillion and similar grocery stores. This last trip had me centered in Wenatchee, but also visiting stores in Okanogan and Moses lake. Ended up racking up 1,847 miles on the rental car in just over a week's time. Can't complain bout the driving tho.....the scenery is breathtaking.

Marek, there are two hours during the day when lighting is very pleasing...

The hour after dawn and the hour before dusk.

These two are right before dusk as I'm too lazy for the am hour!

Most people don't like the power lines but I liked the reflection it cast.

Great light Pete. I know about the blue hour name, and love morning light, but was asking because ISOmatrix's photo looked more like a morning shot than after dusk - too warm. I guess if you mean directly after then it works :P

Thanks Marek!

Used Auto WB...I know I should work more w/ Manual and preset WB but in general have typically been happy w/ Auto WB. It does at times however throw you a curve when you see two different tonalities on 2 consecutive shots.

The wind must've been blowing at gusts approaching 20mph or more during this late day capture, and that along w/ my handheld shot probably contribute to the "not so sharp" appearance of this shot.
