Have recently acquired an alpha 6000. Have attempted to connect to my Samsung S3, but get the endless 'connecting' with spinning circle on the camera. Have read the manual and looked at archives. This has been mentioned, but no cure other than 'try again'. Any other ideas? Is it the camera or the phone? Also the NFC connect does nothing. Thanks.

The camera creates its own WiFi hotspot and the phone connects to it via the playmemories app. Have you downloaded the playmemories app?

Yes.

Also have tried on Ipad2, works to transfer pictures but not as a remote. When I go to application management and try to load the remote to either the phone or the Ipad iget a 'connecting' and spinning circle but no connection. the devices, Samsung S3 and Ipad recognize the A6000 WiFi, but not the other way around.

Thanks

I kept hitting issues with my Nexus 5. At one point I have to rename the camera, which was quite a pain as the wifi password is very strong! I also realized, once this connecting fails, it never manage to connect no matter what I do.

Another symptom that I have faced is that the phone will prompt me for password, but even if I put in the right password, it will prompt me again.

There's once I tried disabling and re-enabling the wifi on my phone, and that seems to have solved the problem.

NFC never worked for me, they will see each other, but the phone never manage to connect to the camera to download the pic, so its manual for me everytime.

That's a pity. My Nexus 5 connected to my a6000 very smoothly. I just have to remember to turn off Airplane mode, and NFC works fine.

I was able to make the connection with my Samsung Note 4 yesterday. Ran in to an issue with finding the cameras password but was able to make it come up after shutting off the camera then going back in to the cameras network settings and making the connection. Worked like a champ after that.

Looking forward to doing some group photos at the holiday party on 13th with this feature.

Like others said check the password. On my S4 it works best Airplane off, Mobile Data off and NFC off. Works fine then.

I have a similar issue using my iPhone

What I actually do is:

1.Launch PM app

2.Connect & wait for the error message

3.Kill the app from background tasks [double-click home button]

4.Finally, re-run the app and it will connect this time.

This works always for me..

I also tried connecting it to my Lumia 1520 using 3rd party camera app. It works from the first time I touch NFC tags...

What 3rd party app did you use for your Lumia 1520? I have a Lumia 920 and a new a6000.

Thanks.

I've used a few times with my Asus tablet hybrid running Windows 8 - works easily and quickly using NFC to connect - I've mostly used the remote app, and haven't tried transferring photos. Also, I've loaded the PlayMemories and remote app for my iPhone and it works easily enough too - just have to turn Airplane mode off, then trigger the app on the phone - takes a little longer the first connection compared to the NFC-equipped tablet, but connects within 5-10 seconds or so and works fine for remote use.

Thanks for all the replies. Today tried again, turned everything off and then back on, careful attention to passwords (which I thought I had done before) and it worked like a charm. Also worked on my old HTC phone, but response time was very slow compared to the Samsung S3. I suspect newer phonew would be faster.
