well, really just following what he had asked from us on his original "Happy Call #1" thread

Every year the Flint Cultural Center puts on a "summer fair" and they Honor one make or model of car (hey, Flint is the birthplace of General Motors after all) this is it was one of the 3 companies celebrating their 100th anniversary,

yup, "The Buick City", even though we no longer build them here :-(
in case you didn't see it,

all makes were welcome as seen by this 1959 Cadillac Hearse

even the "plain janes" were beautiful

My friend tells me i am too "artsy - fartsy", go to my "happy call" and tell what you think http://www.pbase.com/shayfah/sloan_museum_summer_fair&page=1 i will be making a new section as i get some cleaned up, i will keep you all posted.

Iam3D,

I am very happy to see you stealing a Happy Call, don't stop, do it frequently.

I enjoyed all the pics at the summer fair, especially I like the close-ups, where a lot of details of the cars can be seen. Just like being there myself.

Looking forward to your new section, please post soon.

And everyone should feel free to steal a Happy Call or two...!!!

Cheers, Feri

we have to love technology...... especially when its wrapped up and packaged with flair & style......... personally, as much as i like the new technology, i have a weak spot for the old tech items...... just imagine what it was like to live in an era where this WAS the "latest & greatest" technology offered!

Feri, since you were so nice to include a photo of "yourself in chrome", i have included this for you

i am the one above the "S"...... i may even send a "close up in chrome" for ya lol
see ya buddy

Iam3D,

I also love to see State-of-the-Art engineering products, such
sophisticated things like this 1,500cc Suzuki bike...and need to
turn on my camera immediately. Do you agree?

geat shots iam3d.

i love oldies with a big wings, with a lots of chrome, fancy looking and taking gas with a buckets much more than new tauruses or camrys (ford taurus and toyota camry - this explanation is for feri 'coz i thing these models (at least taurus) are not available (i guess) in europe). all these oldies have their souls. taurus or camry is just a tool. the same is with harley davidson. we all know that technicaly all "japs" are much better that hd. but show me a bike making nicer "heavy metal music" than harley.

hey feri:

suzuki is a great bike, but for the reason shown above i prefer hd. hovever your composition is great. congrats.

so what about this:

http://www.arnason.no/modules.php?set_albumName=album10&id=PICT1758&op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php

or, to be more futuristic, this:

http://www.arnason.no/modules.php?set_albumName=album10&id=PICT2937&op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php

this one is 4 wheel , v10 about 8l engine taken from dodge viper, motorcycle (?). it is very nice as well as hostess standing by. but, even with this hostess, i prefer hd.

best regards

Howdy Jack,

You are right, Ford Taurus is rarely seen on this part of the world, but Toyota Motor Hungary offers the Camry model...ahhhh...but lets not speak about the price...could buy about 70 pieces of my Minolta D5. :-(( (Do I need so many cameras? ;-)

And yes, big wings, chrome and so many fancy looks are nice to be photographed, I'm always looking for the best position around to get the most out of the pic, out of the soul of that specific machinery ready to be shot with our Minolta monster in hand. ;-) (First trial was the Suzuki 1,500 cc.)

In regards of hd, I think all other bikes are nothing else but clones, yeap, clones of hd. Although I'm a "4 wheels or no wheels" guy, never really thought of having a bike for myself, but, heck, those nearly handmade hds really make me move as well. Now we also have HD-Hungary, a great looking showroom has recently been opened by the name of Harley-Davidson Budapest, sometime I'm gonna go there, ask the managers to allow me to take a few shots, but if they don't, don't worry, I'll find my way to satisfy myself.

Back in a minute..I need to turn on my CD player with the disc of the music from the motion picture sound track of EASY RIDER...can you hear when Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper hit the road...:-))))

Boy, am I getting in the mood of looking for fine machinery pics...you bet...

Well , but for the time being...need to cool down a bit..and get back to our everyday motorists' world...

Oh, why not? Let's start a nice thread called "My Car". Show us your car..you've gotta love it...be proud of it...take some digiphotos...you know...overall pics...close -ups...reflection in chrome..and all that jazzzzzzz!

Let's enjoy the motorists' photos here on the Minolta Forum...but be aware...last time Petteri told me cars are beasts when it comes to photograph them...so be careful and post only your best shots...

Happy Call #15 commences from here:

10...3...2.1..ignition, here I go:

My Citroen Xsara Picasso:

My Old Black Shoes, so comfortable for driving (remember,eh?):

Rest of the pics available at:

hello feri:

man-o- man. it looks like you're a proud owner of a brand new xara. i took a tour in your xara gallery and i have a few comments after that:

how i already said, it seems to be brand new xara. you even have forgotten to take "paper carpets" out of your beauty. (lol)

here in the usa we would probably called this vehicle "minivan", not a car, with a very strong accent on "mini". damn, this xara is really small. i can realize that your kids are not too big yet, but year or two from now......i think, you should start to collect money for equivalent, let's say, of 70 of d7's for example. (lol)

if gentleman, proudly leaning on xara on one of the pics is our friend feri, boy-o-boy: your belly is even bigger than mine. and it means: we both are getting old. you can't say now (after buying new xara) that you got it from hungry.(lol, lol, lol)

i have a few dozens of pics of cars and other vehicles in my galleries. unfortunately i still don't have my own web site. perhaps one day......

so i've chosen a few classics from my collection and downloaded in to my gallery in thordur's place. pics are not as great as iam3d's but.....
you can find'em here:

http://www.arnason.no/modules.php?set_albumName=album10&id=Chevy_Bel_Air_03&op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php
and here:

http://www.arnason.no/modules.php?set_albumName=album10&id=Chevy_Bel_Air_04&op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php
and here:

http://www.arnason.no/modules.php?set_albumName=album10&id=Chevy_Corvette_Sting_Ray_02&op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php
and here:

and here:

http://www.arnason.no/modules.php?set_albumName=album10&id=Chevy_Corvette_Sting_Ray_05&op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php

and when you'll be tired of oldies, you can get something newer here:

http://www.arnason.no/modules.php?set_albumName=album10&id=Chrysler_Prowler_02&op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php
and here:

http://www.arnason.no/modules.php?set_albumName=album10&id=Chrysler_Prowler_03&op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php

but, due to extremely heavy traffic in new york vicinities an thousands of "drivers" having no basic idea, what are they doing behind the wheel, i do prefer this kind of vehicle:

http://www.arnason.no/modules.php?set_albumName=album10&id=Tank_06&op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php

i would love to have big truck with ammunition behind me and i would let all to call me terminator..........

best regards

jack

"If I had a Harley, I'd leave it for a thief, and with the insurance money, I'd buy an Indian Chief".

sorry Jack & Feri, but i am an "anti Harley" guy, i guess i go against the "fad's" & "fashion statements" and prefer something different, like Indians or my Kawasaki ZX-11 Ninja. I just have a problem with the mentality of some (most?) of those guys, shoot, half of them are laywers with a leather fetish....... no thanks, i do NOT want to be mistaken for a laywer (lol)........ its the "RUBbies" that seem to have the most attitude..... the real bikers that stood tall and stayed Harley when AMF had control of the company (back in the bad ole days of "shovel heads") don't seem to have a big problem with Asian bikes, alot of joking going on but they say, hey, "you're on two wheels"

many of the Harley riders i have run into have such an attitude of "Harley's the greatest"...... at what? my bike handles, stops and accelerates better than 99% of the Harleys out there....... and it does so at half the cost!

sorry guys, i'm just going on a little rant here, no offense meant...... here is a pic i just snapped of the back of my truck (poor quality, no lights just flash and it is dark outside) ....... you may have to look a little harder at this to make it out

i get many "thumbs up" from my "pacific rim brothers" lol....... again, no offense meant to you guys, just my feelings towards an American Ego, err, icon.

hi iam3d:

there's no any offense from you ( at least i don't take it this way). we've just exchanged our opinions. i curently ( and i'm almost sure that feri too) do not have any bike, especially hd, which is hard (at least for me) to afford. so it was kinda of "theoretic discussion" what is and what could be. my intence in general was that hd is a classic, "japs" are not. indian......it used to be a great name, but discontinued a years ago. in 1998 or 1999 (i'm not sure about date) some enthusiasts have bought trade name and made a brand new bike under indian name. they had 2 models: chef (more advanced and more expensive) and scout. both have some similiarity to hd. the chef looks great. i've even been sitted on chef and i was seriously (lol) talking about purchasing it. but price (25 grand + tax) was successfully chilling me out. if you've been watching some commercials in tv lately, you've probably noticed a new brand of american bike (if i'm not mistaken) name victory or so.

but, how i've mentionned before, heavy metal music performed by hd is unique and covered by us patent office. all "japs" (no offense to your kawa) sound like pop music, comparing to hd.
but, how i'm always saying, this is a matter of personal taste.

best regards

jack

ps. by the way, your gallery of classics is simply great.

Thanks for your call, Jack!

Its interesting to see your comments on the size of the Xsara Picasso, coz here we have much much smaller cars like Fiat Cinquecento or the Toyota Yaris, etc. I always wonder how those guys get in their cars. LOL

sigh Mr. Bellyman is supposed to be me, well, one thing for sure: we're not gonna get yunger, eh!

Thanks for your nice pics, as well, but still couldn't see your car, or is it among them? :-)

And lastly, sometimes here also I wish I could have the same kind of heavy machinery and teach some mad guys on the road how to take care of each other during driving, hope that long tube on the top-front of the vehicle would make them think twice before doing something odd in traffic. LOL

Hi Feri, your comment about heavy vehicles just reminded me how many times I wished myself to have a tank or at least the good old BTR (sorry, communist terminology :-), Americans call them APCs, but BTR is well known) with it's 8 big wheels. I used to be in Germany, UK, Greece and Turkey only, but the worst is what we have here in Bulgaria.

nice prop...... very smooth & shiny Plamen....... goes well with the beautiful red paint......... i liked your helicopter close up also........ maybe we should get a thread going, "self portrait" showing yourself in chrome or mirror or whatever, we do not need the see all the face or body if so desired, the camera may be blocking face or part of your face..... whatever the person is comfortable with...... we have Feri, You and myself in chrome & the wonderful Melanie Kipp throught the mirror in her signiture line (is it just me, or do we miss Mel & Peterri?)
Recalled this as there was a speaking of chrome here

hello feri:

most of places have fireworks scheduled for 4th of july. but we also have many places photographers friendly. they start a day or two earlier. so if you screw your pics up, you don't have to wait until next year to fix it. just to check where are next fireworks on your area tonite and go there.
ain't is cool?
