Whoopi di doooooo!!

The Fujifilm X-E2 also gets a December 18 firmware v3.0, adding Classic Chrome, interval timer shooting and WLAN remote control with use of the Camera Remote app. "The Fujifilm X-E1 and X-Pro1 (also available December 18) are provided firmware updates adding AF+MF control for all X-mount lenses".

Can someone be kind to explain what this adding AF+MF means? What's different from what the camera does already?

Is the X-E1 not getting the classic chrome film simulation?? Did I read that correctly?

Thanks!

Yep, X-pro and X-E1 don't seen to get Clasic Chrome.

Af+MF meana you van manual focus after you did the Af bij turning the manual focus ring on the lens.

Amazing update for the X-T1. So-so for the XE-2. Feeling *very* unloved right now with the X-Pro1. They did put us on notice, saying the burden to update all these bodies was too great.

I suppose Fuji is still doing better than the other manufacturers with respect to firmware updates.

It means they're adding compatibility for lenses that aren't already compatible with the X-E1, most likely the 50-140 and the 56 APD.

No, voodoo had it right. This feature lets you fine tune the focus manually even when auto focus is enabled. Half-press to AF, the use the MF barrel to make any changes.

awww, i was excited when i read the title hoping for classic chrome, guess I'll have to eventually upgrade to the xe2 now that it's getting the awesome wifi treatment.

Was kinda hoping I'd get to play with classic chrome on my X-E1, but the additional focusing option is pretty cool.

Ok I can understand that xe1 is not going to get Classic chrome but I can't understand why xpro1 is not? ???
That's really sad as xpro1 is still flagship model.
Really sad fuji.

XE1 and XPro have a different processor, perhaps they have not gotten to it yet. Maybe it and other updates will come later. Or maybe not.

Rather not I think. The X100 for instance never got the film simulations that were introduced with the X-Pro1 (Pro Neg Hi and Std).

I wouldn't have thought that a slide profile would be difficult to do in both, given that they have already had new profiles on the last major upgrade.

The X-T1 and X-E2 have identical processors and JPEG engines. They probably didn't have to re-write any code to stick the new simulation in the X-E2. The previous generation X-cams (famously) have a different JPEG engine that most people like better. X-Pro 1 users would have been very upset if they inherited Classic Chrome, but also inherited the high ISO skin smoothing JPEG feature.

Yes, Fuji could have spent resources writing the new simulation into the older JPEG engine, but the ROI probably just wasn't there.

Not sure what you're referring to. I don't believe the X-E1's film simulations have changed since it was introduced.

Most ignored have been X-E2 buyers - XE2 was released almost same time as X-T1 and was also costly, but X-T1 has got lost of valuable features and improvements but X-E2 got dog's meat. Fujifilm has lost my credit.

As a long time XPro-1 owner I'm happy with this update. Classic chrome would be a minor update in my view and if it meant losing one of the existing films or gaining the plastic skin look of the later bodies Fuji can keep it. Much happier with the AF+MF capability, very useful! Well done Fuji! :-D

Really?

As of December the X-T1 and X-E2 will have the exact same:

S-AF speed

Interval timer

EVF resolution

EVF fast refresh rate

Wifi remote capabilities

Film simulations

Image quality

Manual Focus aids

and, due to Fuji's habit of spreading out FW updates, probably the high-speed electronic shutter after the first of the year.

What else can Fuji add in FW to the X-E2 from the X-T1?

Would be nice if they include the electronic shutter on X-E2 on this December firmware update as well. I know getting the firmware features of the EVF from X-T1 would be impossible.

I think the next fw update will include compatibility of upcoming new Fuji flash unit(s).
