Meikon underwater housing for Sony a7 / a7R

I've been thinking of upgrading my NEX to the a7... How did you contact Meikon? Email? From the looks of the case, there's a shoe (cold). Wonder if a wireless solution exists? Perhaps I'll have to keep my NEX....

I used the "Contact us" link on top of meikestore.com page. I'm not sure if that's the manufacturer or the supplier.

So far I've kept my NEX for underwater photography, but I'd rather carry just one camera.

I'd also be interested to hear how the a7S performs underwater.

According to their Facebook page the newer housings have them

"The housings with alarm are Canon EOS M, EOS M2, 5D Mrk III, Sony A7/7R (28-70mm), A6000(16-50mm). Other old types don't have alarms because we don't design a space for alarm."

Thanks

I was surprised to see a metallic housing made for RX100 version one but no other information

That would be my issue as well. I use a strobe with optical cable triggering. I sold my NEX and A-mount kit to go FE. I bought a used RX100 which I guess will be my UW camera...

Correct. There is no flash solution. And we all that if you want to do serious underwater photography, a flash is essential. ;)
I've never used a flash underwater (I don't take it that seriously) but what about the hot shoe in the pictures on dansarosa.com:

The hot shoe is actually a cold shoe. This to attach accessories or permanent lightning. Meikon confirmed to various users in FB that there is no synch port and that there is no way to trigger a flash.

I believe that is a "cold" shoe - meaning it can hold a flash/strobe. But there is no trigger (optical or otherwise). For cameras (Sonys at least) with a built in flash, one can optically trigger a strobe (TTL). With the a7 (professional - so it can't have a very useful pop-up flash, right....), apparently there is no way to trigger a strobe with the Meikon UW housing (even according to them after inquiring on their facebook page). A strobe allows you to obtain realistic colors rather than a blue cast for your UW photos. A necessity for me at least.

Thanks for the clarification. I haven't thought that it would solve the blue color issue. I'll have to consider buying a proper UW housing and a strobe.

Right now, unfotunately, there is only one expensive solution, Nauticam.

Apart from being too expensive, it also looks quite big. I'm doubtful whether I want to carry that much stuff with me in my travels. But I still have my NEX and the Meikon housing for it. Did I understand correctly that there are underwater strobes that I can trigger with the weird flash that came with my NEX-5?

The Meikon housing for Nex5 comes with two optic fibre connecting places where if you hook two strobes to it, you can trigger them using build in flash. Very useful an correct.
