I bought a S2 today and Im trying to get Thoms book but it keeps telling Me that I did not enter a serial # for a S2.

It is a USA version.

I registerd it fine with the same serial #.

Hi Ken. Welcome to the forum. On another forum someone posted they had the same problem. The solution was to put a space in front of the serial number and it worked. You might try that. I look forward to seening some great pictures from you. Ken

Gabriele, you could send him an email. Right now it seems he is using Paypal. I think that's what you meant when you said Penpal. Here is his email address:

Did you have any luck on the Fuji Site? Ken

I mean, I have the link for their web site but not the link where I can buy the book. I may try writing to Tom, see if he can take a check or credit card. I don't want to use paypal.

Ken,

I had the same trouble. After calling Fuji I was informed that, because the S2 is shipping so rapidly, they're behind in updating their database with the new serial numbers. They recommended waiting a few weeks and trying again...it finally went through last week.

Hope that helps.

Gabriele,

Just curious: why don't you like PayPal? It's completely safe and quick. And you CAN use your credit card there. You just have to put the credit card on your PayPal account before you can use. I actually use PayPal at least 2-3 times a month, and ALWAYS with my credit card. I love it.

Happy shooting,

Freddy

Ya...I was referring to the free one from Fuji for the US models. Not sure what Thom's turnaround is when you order directly from him.

No complain from Thom - instant feedback and shipment! From US, even air mail takes 2-3 weeks to get to Madeira - I think next week I will have it with me ...

That hopefully explains it; however, I've had my S2 for six weeks now and it still rejects it.... Also with the space in front as suggested. I emailed Fuji and had some back and forth dialog and still no response.... (sigh....)

The S2 that I bought a couple days ago is great after seeing some friends have one and used it for a a day or so. On Fuji's website they give you the book for free when you register your camera. I hope they wrote it for "dummies" like myself and that it will help me greatly understand everything.

Oh yeah, I forgot the web site is doing the same thing to me so I called Fuji and they told me that it takes a week or so for them to confirm of the serial no from the store you bought if from. If it doesn't let me register by Tuesday, I am calling Fuji again and have them do it.

I also had a problem registering the camera to get the free book and when I called Fuji they refused to do it for me. They said it would take a month before I could register the camera and on top of that I had a problem with their tech support. They have no patience and could not help me fix the software problem so I am going to take everyones advice here and copy them to a CD and then bring them up on the computer. I think this is a safe way to save the camera from being tripped over with the wire and possibly breaking the camera like the same thing that happened to Froggee.

Also those that have the ebook of Thom Hogan, I wanted to ask if it is easy to understand for those of us still learning? I am going on vacation next week for my brothers wedding and I will get some good use out of for that. Who knows he might hire me.
