Sony A7s AF assist light during video recording

Even if it is off on the menu??
Is there a specific setting you are referring to? I have set the AF assist light to off and am using manual focus lenses yet the light still always flashes briefly during the start of movie recording.
Anyone?

I tested my A7s, and no AF assist light when recording starts..what lens are you using? FE lenses??

If you use a Sony FE lens, does the same thing still happen?
I also can't duplicate with genuine Sony FE lens.
Thanks for testing. I am just using manual lenses with an adapter as I do not have nay FE lenses at the moment. I tried the obvious settings in the menu and the lights still briefly flashes when recording..

Camera Settings -> tab 3 -> Option 3 "AF Illuminator".
This doesn't work as I would not post if it did

this just concludes that if you are using non sony lens, you will get this momentary AF illuminator flashes at teh beginning of each movie shoot..

I have a sony FE 16-35 f4 and even with the AF illuminator disabled in the menu the red light still flashes at the start of video recording. Any idea how to shut this off?

how about putting a piece of black tape over the AF illuminator. The A7s low light AF is impressive most will not need to use it.

I know I can tape it over, but I just don't believe that there is not a way to shut it off. It seems like such obvious need for people. Until there is a solution, I guess gaffer tape will do.
