I'm about to finish my Open Water course here in Thailand and I'm very much interested in UW photography. I'm looking at the P8 and its UW housing from Sony. What do you think?

Also, are the more megapixels in the P10 a lot better than or having more advantages?

I don't have any useful information on the UW housing for the P8, but in regards to your question about the megapixels and the P10, I think the extra megapixels will definitely come in handy.

I first bought a P8 and ended up trading up to the P10. I did some test samples when I had the P8 in terms of cropping my pictures after I took them and I wasn't satisfied with it's cropping ability. Owning the P10 has let me take pictures of things that are at a much farther distrance and then zoom in on the pic and crop it to get the image I want.

If I were into UW photography, I would think that would come in handy since you might not be able to get a close as you like to a fish, or other sealife that may be passing by. I know when I was in the Keys I kept trying to catch up with the awesome sea turtle and while I got the picture, it was small. Unfortunately, back then I was just using an underwater disposable camera. I know for a fact if I had the P10 back then with UW housing, I could have zoomed in on that turle, cropped the pic and it would have been awesome. A lot of people say 3mp is fine and for certain purposes it is. But if you want to have room to grow and edit crop your pics effectively, the 5 mp is the way to go in my opinion.
