Thanks. What's it like with Servo vs. AI focus? Center point vs. multi-point?Fast, fast, fast! Going to take a while to learn the nuances of the focus system because I think it is more like the 1DX and I have not had any experience shooting with it--only the 7D. Love the reduced noise! Much faster focus when my 70-200 f/2.8L IS II has the 2x TC than the 7D.
Those are just the things I've noticed after the first day!

I'd get the 7DII too if it was cheaper. Looks like some nice features on that new beast I would like. I'm just sick and tired of paying and paying. My brand new 7D two years ago was $1259 plus tax. A new 7D is actually more expensive now! The 7DII is around $1900 plus tax CDN.
Post why you like the 7DII over the 7D.
Thanks.

Why do you think I find anything 'problematic' with my 7D after many thousands of photos? I think the new 7D is pretty cool, according to the reviews I've read. The price is not. ;-)... you outlined a few of the things that you're finding to be problematic with your 7D, so people could address those directly with their own 7D2 experiences. For example, in my case, it would have been noise above ISO 800, low ISO noise in blue sky, focus consistency and hunting in less than perfect light, etc. Early reports suggest that many, if not all of these have been improved in the newer model.
That was strictly a guess on my part based on the fact that you were considering an upgrade. Let me rephrase it: perhaps if you outline some areas you'd like to see improved, people could share specific experiences in those areas. Might help you get more useful data. I had my 7D from the week it was released and put more than 275,000 clicks on it and loved it. It's been to all 7 continents including 2 trips to Antarctica and performed beautifully so what would I like more about the 7D2:
1. Less noise at higher ISO
2. Much faster focus with teleconverters on my lens
3. More specialization on programming focusing options on rear buttons
4. Much faster and more accurate focus and shooting.
The 7D is still a wonderful camera and is my backup but the 7DM2 has the potential to be an even more useful tool. These are the reasons I switched. I don't do video so I have no comments about those aspects since they are not important to me.

The price is exactly the same than the 7D when it was first released. I bought my 7D later and the price went down. Why do you think I find anything 'problematic' with my 7D after many thousands of photos? Actually, it's exactly $100 more, but close enough. The price is exactly the same than the 7D when it was first released. Breathtakingly fast and accurate spot focus - can't wait to use all those points on BIF.Please post your positive and negative comments going from 7D to 7DII. Thanks.

I paid $1259 plus tax for my 7D almost 3 years ago from Henry's in Canada. It's now around $1500 (plus tax) at Henry's last time I looked.Actually, it's exactly $100 more, but close enough. The price is exactly the same than the 7D when it was first released. Spare a thought for us on this side of the pond where the price of the 7D2 is £1,599.00. At $1.56 to the £, this translates to US$2,494.44!!
