Hi. Someone posted a comment that their Sigma 70-200 f2.8 needed a firmware update to work with the D750. I thought it might be good to see if there were other lenses that also had compatibility issues.

I'm wondering about the Tamron 24-70 f2.8. Anyone using this on the D750? Any issues?

Thank you!

Hi Andy,

I used the Tamron 24-70 f2.8 on the D750 body without any problems during the last couple of days. VC worked very well at shutter speeds at or below 1/60s, as well.

Not sure if this is true (maybe someone else may clarify). Some time ago, I read in sources around the internet that Tamron had been working in partnership with Nikon for its lenses, while Sigma needed to perform reverse engineering to be able to produce a compatible firmware for Nikon.

May someone else know more about that? Whether that is true or not?

All lenses will work in regular TTL viewing. It's in live view that Sigma lenses, new Art series versions, don't autofocus. The Sigma dock just got a firmware upgrade itself, so perhaps they are working to update their lenses to AF in LV.

Thanks for the heads-up, I've not put my Sigma 17-70 |C on the Dock for some time so will do so to day and see if the problem with the D7100 has been fixed :) . The 35 1.4 Art has always done well.

Cheers,

Sigma 50 1.4 non art is not focussing in live view.

Thanks, Michael, for chiming in again here. Interesting that Ryan mentioned above that his is working OK. Wonder what the difference might be. I think we're talking about the same lens here?

I do have the Sigma dock but have not used it recently, so I suspect all but the very earliest firmware should be fine.

Not true in my case, I'm afraid; TTL, my Sigma 70-210 and 105 macro have the focusing problem that I mentioned elsewhere in this thread. They focus just fine, but only after a couple of seconds in "sleep" mode.

having some glitches with the sigma 24-70 2.8, which works fine with d700...

more testing needed..

Hi Phathom,

I am a long time Nikon user, but I am having an issue for the first time with the combinations of the D750 and the D800 with the Tamron SP 70-200mm f2.8, USD Di lens.

By the way, I do have the Tamron SP 24-70mm f2.8 USD Di lens which doesn't give me this focussing issue.

My issue on the D800 and D750, with the 70-200mm is:

When focussing on low contrast areas, where the lens would normally shift focus from close to infinity and back again, I hear a long "beep" and the focus locks. The manual focussing ring seems to be what causes the beep, as it actually starts to move as I hear the beep. This I checked after getting my assistant to press the shutter while I watched. The beep is definitely from the lens.

This sometimes happens after one or three presses of the shutter, so it can be quite disconcerting.

After the focus on the lens locks, I can press the shutter and a picture is taken, but it is out of focus.

The only way I can "unlock the focus", is by switching off the camera and turning it back on. This is unacceptable, especially if one is trying to capture a special moment at a wedding or sport event.

I will be trying to get the shop to replace this lens.

Cheers

Wow, I'm sorry to hear about your problems. I'm afraid I haven't had any of these issues. I think you should certainly get the company to replace your lens. My copy works flawlessly.
