I've posted these elsewhere as well. Shot in "BS - HDR" and later converted to B&W.

File size reduced for download speed.

Hi Erik:

Beautiful photos. They have that nostalgic feeling witch remembers Wim Wenders.

Thanks foe sharing.

Best regards,

Joao

Hi Erik,

Nice set! Not sure where you are shooting these, but being from So Cal. I know this kind of terrain and it is often not very photogenic. Great choice to convert to b/w and your PS choices are very effective. I especially like the texture you brought out on the last and the "evocative atmosphere" on the first. For me (remembering trying to photograph a stretch of the Mojave Desert and getting.... nothing) these pictures are a great reminder how a photographer can create something worth looking at when the scene in front of the camera seems pretty ordinary (or worse!) to the eye.

Hi, Lisetta,

The gas station is on Rt166 between Maricopa and where Rt 33 comes up from Ojai. The intersecting road pretty much follows the San Andreas Fault trace: the area often seen in aerial photos of stream beds bent into zig-zags by the fault movement is just north of it, in the Carizzo Plains.

#4 is in the mountains between there & Frazier Park.

This area ia a favorite of mine - when I was in the Navy at Port Hueneme I traveled that region almost every weekend, just looking, and now - finally, I have a "Real" (digital) camera to record it.

Hi & thanks, Joao,

And now - thanks also to 'google', I know who Wim Wenders is, and it sounds like you hit the nail on the head.

I like the 3rd one especially. It looks like something taken from the movie Hud.
