PART 2 - *** This Week Through YOUR m4/3 2014.10.04 *** PART 2

I don't know where these were shot, but Fall is in a hurry there with all those leaves on the ground. I think the wider 45mm shot works better with the tree in the shot. I do agree with Florida that the composition would improve with the door arch completely in frame on the second shot.

The white balance also looks more natural in the second shot, although I don't know how it really looks.

The first looks overly dark and the second would be better with more of the water in the foreground.

The b&w treatment gives these photos a vintage feel, but I would love to see the Fall colors. That third shot with the cat had me looking closely at all the details. The pose of the cat, the skin on the laptop, the woman's robe and cable (Ethernet?) were all interesting to me. If that is an Ethernet cable, what happened to the Wi-Fi? :-)

Thanks as always for your critique but... I can't make the lake bigger to get more water in the foreground?? :-D I was standing on the far shore from the mountain.

That's a lovely shot. It appears to be a long exposure with the cloud movement and smooth water, but I can't reconcile that to the 1/640 exposure.

The first and fourth flower shots work best for me as they have greater DOF than the other two. I've never been a fan of extremely shallow DOF shots unless they have something fully in focus, like a drop of water.

That bird shot is interesting. I like how you let the whites take over. Did you also adjust vignetting to increase the brightness in the corners?

Very interesting/inventive set Marsupialmouse, the selective focus/DOF works for me.

With a 12mm lens, I would think you could fit a lot of the lake into the shot. I see you composed with the top of the tree in the upper left. Did you have your camera pointed up to fit the tree in the shot? Were you also shooting from a very low angle? A low angle POV would have reduced the amount of water in your shot as well.

Totally my screw up. I was confused about which photo you were talking about.

It was a low angle. I had the camera on my mini-tripod set on the ground. I see that this was a mistake. It is one of the things I was wondering about. I was doing a comparison of how that shot would look with 7mm vs 12mm and I shoot 7mm a lot from a low angle POV.

Great set, the second is the best of the three with it's tight crop.

The out of the ordinary portrait is fascinating. The cat is a real cat walker.

+1. The third is also very striking with the photographer pulling the eye back.

I like the second one best too. The third reminds me of a huge fresnel lens.

Agree about the cropping - trying to be careful not to lop off the top of the roof rather than the side - and it could use some keystone adjustment as well. All the same, its nice to be out with my camera after a month of being bogged down with other things.

Thanks. That's my daughter, and it's a charging cord. I've been trying black and white only for a while, a visual and processing exercise, so no color for you. :) But it was pretty.

Hi

All of these were taken in August, but I hadn't had the time go go through them. Interiors taken with LX7. C+C welcome.
