Just picked up an FE35 2.8 Sony Zeiss and I see it doesn't include a soft case whereas the FE24-70 did.

Is this normal practise for smaller Sony lenses?

It was an open box so just curious but otherwise looking forward to a now compact A7.

:-)

Thanks,
Paul

It's not included. Not that I need one, the 35mm is on my camera most of the time ;)

Thanks for confirming that.
no problem :)
I've been using my Pentax LTD and non-ltd lenses with a Novoflex adapter and this 35mm certainly is smaller in size without the need for an adapter, so I can understand why it would remain attached.
Yes, the size makes it one of my favourite picks ;)

I wish it was an F2 lens though...

I don't miss OSS on the 35mm. I prefer that they kept the size small instead. Being so small, this combo can be easily placed on some makeshift support.

I'm actually used to use non stabilized lenses on non stabilized bodies (I usually take images of people, OSS doesn't help me much ;) ), therefore I like to have OSS if possible, but it's not a must nor a deal breaker.

But it does make a huge difference at times and I look forward to get the 16-35 OSS for hand held landscapes "on the go".

It's on my camera most of the time too. Love this lens. It's a keeper.
I only wish I could use it better.

I used for years a 35mm on an APS-C body, and feel the 35ZA too wide on FF. It's more useful than a 55mm, but I still haven't got used to it.

On the other hand, I also used a lot 16 to 20 mm on APS-C, therefore the 35ZA on FF feels at times not wide enough.

The 35ZA is something in between and I feel I still haven't got the hang of it somehow. Used on my APS-C body give me great results, but I miss the extra stop I have with the SAL35F18.

If you do need a case for it, try the OEM hard case Sony LCS-BBM (if too small then size up to the LCS-BBL). Great quality cases, MSRP is a little high but these are on Amazon all the time for around $15 (BBM), $20-$25 (BBL).

I was told that they provide a lens cap that fits on or over the lens hood - never did see one with mine. Can anyone confirm yes or no

Thanks

David

I bought mine new, and yes there is a lens cap. The cap fits on the lens hood. It does not fit on the lens itself, only on the lens hood. It's the same size lens cap as the sel 16-50pz.

I shall go back to the dealer and see what happened. I bought mine new as well

Mine also included the lens cap so I would definitely go back and ask.

Something similar happened to me once when I purchased a new camera online, it actually came with the wrong lens cap and it did not fit at all. When I told the dealer they shipped me the correct lens cap at no charge and let me keep the other one too. They assured me it wasn't an open box/demo etc but they weren't sure how it happened. Camera was fine.
