What ads do you see on this site? Every day mine are different. And I wonder if mine are different from everyone else's. Or even in different languages. For me today it's all about the Nikon D750. How about you? And do you ever see ads for products here that you viewed elsewhere on the 'Net?

that in Tools/Add-ons/Extensions/Adblock Plus

there is a bit of fine print called Filter Preferences.
You will find a weasel switch there called "Allow some non-intrusive advertising"
just below the filter list, you may wish to experiment with this.

No idea. I never note them. Really - they are invisible to my brain for many years.

Like many others, I never see any popups on this site.

As noted by others you seem to have a rogue toolbar and/ or you are affected by malware , hence the tracking cookies.

It might depend on which secuiity suite you are using, the leading ones should block this sort of activity. I find Kaspersky to be effective.

If downloading any programs , always use a custom install, which should let you see exactly what is to be downloaded, and enable you to choose which features you want. Default installations often include undesirable extras .

To check for rogue add-ons on IE, just click on Tools then "manage add-ons2 which should show which are operating and allowing you to disable any which look dubious..

That's just a normal contents page..not advertising as in the original query!

Thank you for your replies. I am running a Win7 desktop PC. use IE7 mostly. Just out of habit. I do not think I have Firefox. I do have Chrome, but seldom use it. At some sites the "Relevant Advertising" feature can be disabled, but I did not know there is a way to block ALL ads on all sites! That would be great!
Well, WHICH browser do you use ? I guess that in Internet Explorer you can also use the "Adblock Plus" add-on, but I don't know if Chrome has this possibility !

You may check -and perhaps try- Firefox...

I use Chrome and Adblock Plus. Works great.

Thank you. I will check that out. I will also look into using other browsers and Adblock.

I do that when reading magazines as well.

I used to use a software ad blocker. Now, my brain is my ad blocker. :-) It automatically tunes out ads.
One thing that ad blocker does is strip the ad's from youtube. When videos started to play, they forced you to see a commercial. No longer.

Chrome supports "Adblock Plus" but as far as I know IE doesn't, although last time I looked, it had its own version. Which didn't work.

While you're looking through Chrome's add-ons, download and instal "Flashblock" as well. That'll get rid of all those hideous flashing, animated ads. that some sites force upon us.
