Mate or Maté is a South-American beverage very well known in Argentina and Brazil. Lebanese immigrants brought this drinking ritual to Lebanon decades ago. Today, Lebanese Mate drinkers are many, but, they can mainly be found in Chouf region in general and among Druze community in particular. During my tour to that region, I was so lucky to witness, share and capture this amazing traditional daily ritual between two kind women! I joined and enjoyed.

Oh, a Lebanese on this forum, it sure must have triggered some memories, glad you enjoyed it M ;-)

Rodrigue, the images seem interesting, but come off underexposed on my calibrated monitor. Also, I find precise focusing wanting on most of the images. Thanks for sharing!
My Best,

Emil
Thanks for the Tips Emil, really appreciate it, I was doing fat editing using a portable and an iPad, now as I'm back behind my desk, I can see what you mean, you're absolutely right.

here's a pictures edited properly. Better now.

The conviviality and warmth of this little gathering comes right off the screen at me Rodrigue. A lovely set. And yes I'll have a Mate. What is it exactly?

Very best
Mike

Lovely set, without knowing its origin I would say it was taken in Argentina and these beautiful ladies enjoy a chat in company of the ever present mate.

Nice to hear that Eduardo! Yes, you are right, this is typically Argentinian routine. Here it's almost as known as coffee . My father used to drink it everyday twice. So siting with those ladies brought good old memories.

Much better now! Btw, I like the pose, composition and lighting of this image a lot. :)))

My Best,

Nice images Rodrigue and good use of the X-vario. I think I have tried mate (a friend brought something similar from Brazil) but I am sorry to say I did not like it much...

I know you just got your M9, but I am sure if you had the new Leica X you would make amazing work in low light...

Best, D

This lady had that ZEN aura around her! So serene, smily and non talkative. Her friend stoked the talk-show but she stole my camera's attention.

Yes D, you're right, Mate need more than one try to get hooked to it, it's like trying to drink tea without sugar, needs some practice.

the New X must be a phenomenal performer , fixed 35mm focal in that body is a dream for street shooters.
