Hi,

About 2 days ago I posted the following question, but i did not get even one response.

"Hi,

Recently, I made a AVCHD video of a party, and when I tried to play back the video on the camera to check on the quality and content, I received the following message;

"THIS MOTION IMAGE CANNOT BE PLAYED"

Later, at home on my computer, it all played fine, but the 16GB SD card would not play onto the Panasonic HD TV using the TV's SD card slot, or the Panisonic Blu-Ray SD card slot. It was not recognized by either one.

What am I doing wrong?

Thank you and regards, Ken."

Why has noone responded to this, could I be the only one with this problem?

Thank you, Ken.

That's too bad that no one has responded but they were probably like me and have not yet encountered this issue. I rarely use the video on my cameras but I have couple of thoughts on this. Somehow the file was altered by either getting corrupted slightly or from something be changed in the naming convention or file info. The file seems to be missing something that the camera and Panasonic devices require but your computer doesn't. I know it doesn't help fix your issue but it is all I can think of right now. Hopefully someone else can provide a more informed answer.

Thank you Tim, I was starting to really feel really alone!

I don't know what happened, but at on time it work correctly, maybe I just pressed the wrong command or something.

Thanks again and regards, Ken.

where did you buy the camera from? I had a vague feeling the tv world is divided between PAL and NTSC systems?

Hi Kevin, thank you for the response.

I bought the camera last year from a well known dealer in NY I think, But I am not sure.

Maybe I could reset all the settings and see what happens.

That may be but he said that the video wouldn't even play in the FZ150 that created the file. I wonder if all of his video files are having this problem or just this particular one. What about MPEG video? Is that any better?

-Tim
Hi again Tim, I Have not tried MPEG, maybe I will try that.

Thank you, Ken.

I actually mean MP4 video not MPEG. Shows what I know about video. :) It's funny I just tried out the video in my FZ150 and couldn't even select AVCHD, then I realized it was because I was using the internal memory only. Pretty funny. Then I used the card from my FZ200 in the FZ150 and it worked perfectly. I'm sure it has nothing to do with your problem but thought it was interesting.

One thing I did read was about how the preview Jpeg image for the video might be altered in some way and prevent the video from playing in the camera. I would suggest to copy everything you want on the card into your computer, reformat the card and start fresh with a new video and see if that fixes things. Maybe there is also some problem with your card or maybe it isn't fast enough. Good luck and let us know what you discover please.

Hi Tim,

Thanks again for all of your effort.

I may have stupidity 'stumbled' over the problem; When messing with the settings, trying to locate MPEG, I mistakingly pushed the top of the control wheel to view the playback, and it worked!

Could I have been that dumb that I did not notice the big yellow up arrow?

Apparently YES!

Thanks again for all of your help and it was not in vain because in trying to find the answer to your question about MPEG, I found the solution!

Tim, one more favor you could give me to confirm this; Please try to view a video on your FZ150, but push either the right arrow or the center button on the control wheel and tell me what it says. Then try to view by pushing the top pointing arrow and it should show your video.

You should get the message, "This motion image cannot be played."

Regards, Ken.

Sorry you didn't get any responses. I don't do video so I cannot help you. I assume many other folks are in a similar boat. Hope you get this worked out.

Hey Ken, I couldn't duplicate your problem. The left and right buttons on the control wheel display the next or last pic and the middle button activates the menu. The Fn button only seems to stop the video and the top button starts the video. Maybe you pushed several buttons at once. :) Anyways I'm glad it's working for you now.

Thank Tim, Regards, Ken.
