I've had my OptioS for just more than 2 weeks. I've read the review and all the posts. I still got this little camera because I think it's great. But after reading all the reviews I'm paranoid about all these imperfections (softness mainly). Don't get me wrong, I love this camera. And since this is my first digital camera, I'm sure I'll need to figure out how to tweak it perfectly depending on the situation of the shot.

Those are my best OptioS pictures from the 2 weeks worth of shooting. Any comments would be appreciated regarding the whole LH/corner softness of my sample pics. Should I try another OptioS, or does this one look fine? This being my first digicam, and with the OptioS LH softness issue, I think this one is fine and I should keep it. Also I noticed that (barrel?) distortion when shooting close objects at wide lens, but that doesn't concern me.

PS. The Altoids tin works great as a case :)

because of the limitations on the internet connection where I am today I have only looked at the foliage shot large - but leaves are a pretty good test, and it looks good to me. Certainly no basis for sending the camera back, for this shot at least.

It seems to be reasonably good. If you try another you might get much worse, so if you are happy you may want to not press your luck.

Just have to remember that when you use the flash it goes to a slow 1/40 speed and any movement will be a soft focus (#69). You must be able to hold the camera very well or you used a tripod with the 1/25 shot of the cat (what a great pic #229) in low light.

You are off to a good start with the Optio S, keep shooting.

No problem with your camera - the images are perfectly fine.

Thanks for all the replies. I thought the pictures were looking fine, but I just wasn't sure. I love this little camera and I don't think it will leave my side. So far I'm really happy with it. Being my fisrt digital camera, I didn't know what to look for. But these forums have really helped. I don't want to push my luck by exchanging it. Thanks again for your comments/advice.

consider that a big plus.

I just purchased the camera.....have not printed anything yet....looking good on the lcd. I wanted something to have in my pocket at all times. Your pics look good.

I have to agree with lectraglide about Lin's confirmation.

Also, the kitty shot on page 2 is great. well done.
