Would you be interested in an NX lens mount for your smartphone?

I obviously haven't used a mirrorless lens for a smartphone, because I'm tied into the NX system and Samsung hasn't done this, but what Sony is doing with their system certainly piques my interest:

Although I'm sure many of you as well as myself would want to see some reviews of such a product and there are likely usability issues, the photos from my Moto X are pretty subpar. Being able to take decent photos with my smartphone and my 30mm pancake lense might be a nice compromise to carrying around my NX300. Or, I could just get a Sony smartphone...

So an APS-C lens for a tiny phone sensor? Thus you have the phone and bulky lenses (including adapter) to use with the phone. Might as well just bring along a compact mirrorless body at that point for significantly better image quality and low light performance--since you're already carrying the lenses. A body (like NX3000) won't add that much weight and bulk. It can already interface with a phone and Wi-Fi to transfer files and directly e-mail or upload photograhps too. I don't see any point for this, unless you just want very high equivalent magnification (zoom).

What about effective grip on the whole system for stabilization too? Looks like an ergonomic nightmare. Phone grips? :D Just seems like a gimmick or a joke to me.

I believe the mount would have a sensor in it, so that the phone effectively becomes a touch viewfinder. But the rest of your criticism would still apply... This wouldn't be a solution for all use cases, but I think for some of the smaller NX prime lenses it might be feasible. Not saying I'd buy one myself, however. I do appreciate Sony for being bold...

Oh I missed that part. In that case, it's an interesting development.

Maybe a NX-Mini mount device for smartphone.

Exactly right. Clearly, the NX-mini mount was designed from its inception to be compatible with any handset-sized device. Heck, all the Mini needs is a telephony app, and you're there already :D

Having used the QX10, it is a terrible idea. The thing is very awkward to hold, and you have your smart phone/camera dangling at your wrist. For the cell phone to act as a viewfinder you have to keep it on and active the entire time, draining your cell phone battery. The video is choppy and slow.

Just use remote viewfinder App on NX30 and it is much better than QX10 implementation. The QX10 is just a point and shoot version of the QX1, but same complaints hold true.

Do you like your camera to take 12 seconds before you can try to compose a picture (assuming connection is all right)?

That sort of issue...

Here is my review on Amazon if you are interested: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2E2MOVJMDSDLU/ref=cm_cr_rdp_perm?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B00EVIJX1Y

Here is the thing, in a few generations it could be okay and if they use some proprietary streaming drivers (something like Nintendo Wii-U gamepad), but until then it is a novel toy that will likely be used a couple times before being abandoned for the shiny object next year.

As it is, using a camera like the NX30 in Remote Viewfinder mode is 100% better since you can always use the camera independently.

No. I would rather an array of small cameras to combine and act like 1 big one.

Thanks for the review. Sounds like it's not there yet. I'll probably just get a Sony smartphone with a better built in camera to get better phone pics.
