Why not get something a bit better - the Canon Powershot G15 for example.

Another choice would be a Canon EOS M with the kit zoom. Then you could use it with some of your lenses after you return from Disney.

IMO nothings can beat rx100 line up in terms of quality and compact. rx100 iii sounds more appealing i think because it's have more wider lens 24mm eq.

Hi Tom,

I use a D7000 and an RX100; I also own a Sony NEX-5 that I took to Disney with me a few years back (and then again to Universal and Sea World the following year).

If I were to go back, I'd take the RX100 (and just the RX100) in a heartbeat. Between the I, II and III, I'd choose the I if it were available for a much lower price (for a while, it was) and the III if money weren't an issue (for the EVF, mostly, but also for Auto ISO in M, the wider angle zoom, and reputedly better image stabilization).

I live a few minutes from Disney HQ - Walt Disney Studios, Burbank. When locals say Disney, that's what they're (accurately) referring to. However when non-locals say Disney I'm at a loss since I'm aware of at least 5 Disney theme parks and several resorts in different places around the world.
So, which corner of the globe are you referring to please? for us vicarious travel buffs.

Rec: Canon G1X II gets my vote for travel camera.

Has Maryland been shortened to Mary? ;)

I always assume WDW in Orlando, but see your point (my first Disney visit was to Disneyland in California in 1984). I live 400' from the New York state line in a town that sees plenty of New York City residents on weekends. "Where do you live ?" "New York" You just never know whether they mean the city or the state. (To some, New York is NYC ... and Westchester County is "upstate").

Why buy a new camera? If you want to enjoy the park, you don't want to spend your time learning the quirks of a new camera? Why not just buy the Canon EF 40mm f/2.8 STM pancake lens? It's ridiculously small, has a quiet(ish) focus motor for video and won't break the bank. Or you can buy a pricey compact and you can spend your time at Disney playing with the settings and chimping after every shot.

Lots of good choices. I have an NEX6 but got it after purchasing an RX100 for my daughter. At that time, the RX100 was the only one and it doesn't have an evf, which I wanted. I think the RX100iii is the better all around camera (of the RXs) for what I would use it for. I haven't tried ether the NEX or the RX for fireworks although I think they both have fireworks modes. Since you have a dslr, the small camera doesn't have to do all things well, some things can be left for the dslr systems.

I live in Connectucit. Going down south.

Bet you can buy it there, save all that luggage.
Really, just take the 70-300, no use wasting a trip learning a new cam.
Better yet, use your phone, it's no place for "serious" shooting.

Volunteer, what could possibly go wrong ?

Am genuinely curious to know how the G15 is better than the RX100ii.

I am curious to know how the G15 is better than the RX100ii?

As far as I can see you get a much bulkier, heavier camera with a bit more zoom, and a much smaller sensor and much lower pixel count & you can offset the zoom with cropability of the 20mp clean image files of the RX100ii.

I struggle to see how it's better than the RX100ii in general terms.

Ok ok, Point taken. It was a bit fanboy of me :-) - I am a bit stuck on sensor tech I guess & I agree that absolute IQ is not necessarily the whole picture.

I am going to say SONY RX100. Not sure about Fireworks though.... Have never tried that with the camera.
