RX100 M3 Cases...

I've used a SpiBelt as a runner for several year. Great for holding a few things while running.

For kicks I tried putting in RX100m3 iand that is how I'm going to carry it from now on.

While it could hold a battery or two as well, I think I'll fashion a battery holder for the strap.

I have a Tamrac 5691. It is not as small as the Apecase but has a zippered case on the front where I carry two spare batteries, another SD card and a lens cloth in a little ziplock bag. The flap is secured by a plastic snap in lock common on many cases today. I would like it a little smaller but I like having the front storage.
Seconded - great case.

Here's my RX100M3 comfortably tucked in the Lowepro Tahoe 10. On the bottom is the black wrist strap attached to the camera. I always leave it outside so that I can put my wrist in it BEFORE ever pulling the camera out.

Here's the RX100M3 partway out of the Tahoe 10. As you can see, it fits perfectly!

Here's the RX100M3 coming out of the Tahoe 10. You can see some of the orange internal padding that prevents any contact with the zipper. After 8 months of use, there is no sign if scratching or damage to the camera.

Here you can see the plush inside padding that protects the camera from the zipper and is ultra soft for the camera when inside.

The front pocket can hold one or two batteries quite nicely. Here is my spare that I always keep in the front pocket. With a 64GB memory card and two batteries I'm set for all day.

And finally here's the back of the Tahoe 10 showing the belt loop. I keep my Tahoe 10 on my belt and my camera is always ready to be unzipped from the Tahoe 10 and put in to action. I can be ready to shoot in a matter of seconds.

I hope the pictures are helpful to see how I use the Lowepro Tahoe 10 with my Sony RX100M3.

This looks like a great case. I may try it. Not sure if I'd like the zipper. I have a Targus case that I had sitting around, don't know the model or anything. Fits perfectly, but has virtually no padding. It's a velcro closure, which I like for the ease of pulling the camera out, but not the most secure method.

I've had Velcro cases and I've had zippered cases. I prefer the safety and security of zippered cases. For me Lowepro does a zippered case right. I can undo the zipper and have the camera out in seconds and once you have one you'll find that the zipper does not contact the camera when taking it in and out.

I think BlackRapid has some great cases for compact camera. I have the SnapR 20, just a little bit bulky but has enough space and pockets for extra batteries, some filters etc.. I actually bought because the strap works great. SnapR 10 is a smaller one, but has the same strap.

After 3 rounds of dust on sensor with my m1, my new m3 will live a more sheltered life.

I got lucky again. Donna retired and brought home a very small pair of binoculars. I robbed the case.

It is thinly padded, perfectly sized for me, it has a bit of extra length, I put an extra battery and memory card wrapped in a lens cleaning cloth at the bottom.

It has a separate hole designed for the strap to fit thru. Because the case is so small and light, if I want, I can put my adjustable wrist strap on, pull the camera out, leave the case dangling, shoot, back in the case. that would never have occurred to me if the hole wasn't there.

surprizingly it slipped into my jeans front pocket last night, so I know it will go easily in my shorts with bigger pockets. I found golf shorts have bigger pockets, I suppose golf slacks would also.

I have two great jackets with breast pockets over the hand warmer pockets, so that solves 3 seasons, the shorts the 4th season.

Off to junk shops to get a case for the binoculars.

So I bought a Lowepro Tahoe 10. Some reviewers on Amazon said it was just too tight for the M3, but it is possible to squeeze it in. However, I wasn't happy with how tight it was, and also the added bulk of the outside pocket area...so, I carefully cut the pocket away.

Better! This got rid of a couple of outer layers plus a bulky foam insert. There is still foam in the remaining case walls, so protection is good. However, I could feel a stiff piece inside that prevented the case from conforming to the camera lens bulge and still made the fit tighter than necessary. So I turned the case inside-out...

Then cut a small slit in the bottom inside, which will be invisible when the case is turned right-side out. I slid the rigid plastic out...

Perfect! Now the case is a precise but not too tight fit. The longish belt loop flexes enough so the pouch turns when getting into the car and it snuggles right at my hip. I've learned to like the zipper--this case does it right. As mentioned, it still has padding between the remaining layers--just enough and not too much. A few orange fibers remain around the seam where I removed the outside pocket, but I can live with that for an otherwise ideal case.

Take a look at the Manhattan Portage Camera Case. Here's my post about it.

I got Sony LCSCS , it is great looking case. It has well defined shape, not too hard and not too soft, has zip from both side which I prefer.
It fits Sony RX100 M3 nearly except that you cannot zip both size. If you can live with that, it is good alternative.
I will try to hunt couple of more option, in contention Lowepro Tahoe , Ape Case Basics, Amazonbasic, Sony LCMCSVH , lowepro dashpoint

I like perfect fitting, small form factor case. I am okay carrying spare battery in pant pocket or wife's purse.

Any suggestion.

For a simple dust proof draw string sock, to grab and go, in a pants or jacket pocket with no case,

Just got this case today at B&H, don't judge the pics they are just to show the case. Fits Perfect! Its Velcro, secure, has a drawstring to enclose, waterproof, and a strap on the back if needed. Only around 10 bucks!

that seems excellent fit, good find.

I got lucky, an old mini binocular case fits my m3 beautifully. The dust covers are for going naked in a pocket, but wearing something skin tight, like safe sex.

Nice. Is that the medium or the large?

Its a medium, they make two different models, the medium in the other version is much bigger. This one has a nice snug fit.

Love this thread...I've spent a lot of time and looked at many many cases for my RX100M3 since it first came out. Now considering the M4. Since the dimensions are the same, this thread is quite appropriate for the new guy on the block too.

I'd like to share what I've come to. I've chopped, cut, resewed etc. etc. & edged toward the perfect case, but all of them didn't quite fit my needs, until the latest. I prefer a horizontal belt case. Hate the Velcro closure with the noise and effort.

One of my early rip-and-tear efforts was this:

And then there was this one, based on the Tahoe 10:

Then I found this post about the Manhattan Portege:

Horizontal with a belt loop, and a soft fabric that will flatten as much as possible. And I can leave it on the belt without the camera in, and it'll flatten to almost nothing. Unfortunately, it was a vecro closure, and I didn't like the red label. So I removed those features. I sewed on a hook closure...the fabric is pliable enough so I can pull it down to hook, and it pulls back up securely. Used that for three or four months, and then added a sew-on magnetic closure for more security. This is now almost perfect, for me. I may add another magnetic closure on the other side, and get rid of the hook, since the magnet feels very secure, and is easier to use than the hook. Pics:

I just acquired my RX100 M3 yesterday. After researching online, it seems like among the better 3rd party cases are the Lowepro cases. Anyhow, today at Best Buy, I was looking at a few different options, including a hip case from Sony. I settled on the Lowepro Newton 30 belt case ($10.99). The Sony case was a very tight squeeze, and the other Lowepro Newton 10 case was scary tight ($9.99).

Anyhow, here are a few pics of the Newton 30 case with my RX100 M3..

Here is a relative comparison of the sizes of the camera and case.

Inserting the camera, and removing it, is an easy affair with this case. The zippered top provides decent closure from the outside environment.

Nice and roomy on the inside. Even with this room, the case is nice and slim still, and there is room in the front zippered pocket for a memory card, cord, or something slim.

The case on my belt loop. Feels very comfortable, and is a slim fit. I like how the blue matches my pants, relatively speaking.

All in all, I am happy with this case. I am ordering a grip, and a leather stick-on decal for the camera for better grip. Cannot understand why Sony made this camera so slick, but I suspect its so that you could accessorize the camera to your style perhaps.

I just went to take a look at this at Bestbuy.com

2 things:

1) I think its called the Newport 30, not the newton 30.

2) The black one is only $6 with free delivery.

Thanks for the heads up.
