And this is it.

The price is not too far from the intro price of the G6 originally, and the promotion items (PL25 and grip) have non-trivial monetary values if you buy within this week. This promotion and something similar has run for quite some time by the way so anyone not having caught it can only blame themselves.

If say you can sell a PL25, new in box, for 350 pounds, then theoretically the GH3 is 350 pounds, and that's cheaper than a new G6!

Feature wise, the GH3 is exactly where a G7 could/should be. Previously the G5/G6 have been replicating various features of the GH2 with very few additional points, so why should the G7 exceed the GH3 by a lot?

If it does, it would probably also exceed the GH4.

So logically the G7 is the GH3 at this moment in time, if you can catch that promotion.

Between the G6 and GH4, and mindful of the GH3's existence at its current price point and promotion, it is impossible for Panasonic to release a G7 that makes sense feature wise and price wise. No wonder they are not.

So stop dreaming for a G7 and get a GH3 whilst the promotion is still on.

The GH3 & GH4 are great cameras with fantastic ergonomics. But regardless of the price they are still too big for some people. My perfect camera body size is around the size of the GX7, G6, & E-M10. But I prefer the rangefinder look.

sell it to me, ignoring video, what will it give me that my G6 doesn't?

two obvious downsides for me I like the size of the G6 and I've got very used to focus peaking but maybe the pluses more than compensate.

What additional features can they put in a G7 that's not video related, not usurp the position of the GH4, and not already covered by the GH3 and G6? There is simply no position to squeeze in a camera unless they discontinue the GH3. So instead of discontinuing the GH3, it would save a lot of trouble to keep it going like a virtual G7.

GH3 has all the pro features like a better sensor, one generation newer I believe as the G6's sensor is from the GH2, a weather-sealed body (maybe important for our country), pro-sized body (a downside, I agree), expandable with a battery grip, better screen and more buttons (?) etc. - does it have better flash capabilities? Surely pro means something in practice?

Good points. There's not enough room for a G7 with the GH3, GH4, GX7 and G6 already out there.

I'd agree that a G7 won't come out until the GH3 is sold out, but I won't be surprised if G7 comes out beginning of next year with the GH3's sensor, FP, IBIS, and 1080p (if the GH3 sells out by then). Much like the G5 was a smaller GH2 + some features.

Yes. A G7 like that makes sense next year.

On the other hand, a G7 sort of like that already exists in the E-M10. The body shape is not completely illegal in the G line as my G3 looks a bit like that, only less cute.
