Welcome to Volume 1 #30 of the Garden & Flower Thread … This thread is an invitation to share your photos of:

Gardens

Flowers in gardens or in the studio

Insects that contribute to or threaten the flowers

Critters that live in the garden

No restrictions as to camera or system. No PP requirements. Just a desire to see what your interests and imagination will bring.... However, please limit insects and critters to a garden/flower context – There are other Threads and Forums for Close-Up/Macros and Wildlife.

Comments I'm sure will be welcomed but are your option ...Be courteous, appreciate what you find here, and provide information and comments that add to the pictures shown when you can....

I will look at and enjoy all entries but may only comment as my time permits

PLEASE reply to this thread's Original Post by replacing the thread's title with your own. Responding to other posts will probably result in few seeing what you have worked so hard to share...

Now show us what you're garden interests are and thank you for participating.

And if my daughter sees it, she will pick it and provide the puff of wind, LOL. I really like your rendition of this one, Mark. Thanks for posting.

And thanks for commenting. Again, smaller than several finger tips.

I ride my Trek mountain bike everyday after work and bring my little XZ-2 with me. Whenever I see anything that catches my eye, I jump off and take a few snaps to practice the art of taking pictures. Here are a few that made me stop for a memories. Hope you enjoy.

I don't know what any of these are called. If anyone knows, please let me know.

There are 2 bugs on it, bet you can't find the second one ;-}

I call it the exploding banana.

Living in South East Florida is like living in a tropical paradise, ALL year long :-)

These were taken the other day at the National Botanic Garden in Washington, DC. Thanks for looking.

That's an interesting effect, Sergey, with the circles in a line. It appears to me you were shooting towards the sun but I cannot guess how close to the sun you are pointing your camera. Will you reveal the setup for us?

Seeing this one in another forum caused me to request your participation, snapa, and I thank you for posting these here.

Well, sorry, I cheated: I clicked on this photo, then used the loupe function to find both. :-O

A very apt and humorous description; I like it.

Well, after my post above about the area in which I live, no comment, LOL. Thanks for posting, snapa.

Gorgeous shades of purple, Strefan, purple being one of my favorite colors. Are you using the M4/3's 40-150 lens for these photos? Would you by chance have a shot of the entire flower in your first posted shot here?

Steve

Hi Andrew

Thanks, Steve. I used the 4/3 Sigma 150mm f2.8 prime macro, with the mmf3 adaptor for mft. I have to say I really like this combination a lot. When Oly comes out with their mft pro version of a 150 (probably a zoom), I'll be right in line for it.

The National Botanic Garden has an entire room of orchids and I have a few others not yet processed. :-) Here is the grouping of the one that I later came in close on -- straight out of the camera with nothing at all done (and I have no further plans for this one):

An odd name for such a lovely splash of yellow.

My favorite is the blue, but they're all beautiful!

I looked up the location; sounds like a wonderful spot.

Both flowers appear to be lit from within--a lovely effect.

They look familiar, but I haven't a clue. Bright colors! Has the fair taken place yet?

A clever use of the cattle panel Susan. I enjoyed the images of your cousin's memorial garden. It is lovely and I can not imagine how much work it would be to maintain it.

Andrew

You certainly live in a different world down there. Lovely flowers the likes of which I have not seen before. The second has a twisty entwined look and is especially interesting.
