V1 (my first photos)

Nice shots!

What I don't like to see at f-stop 4.5 is the red and green edges (V1 CA?):

And these red/green edges is visible in print copies too!

I'm very unhappy with this problem. Will the RED/ GREEN edges appear in TIFF-format too?

Can a lower setting for sharpness minimize the problem or the setting for color saturation?

Please solve the red/ green problem for me so I can buy this wonderful little camera!

I agree these are very nice shots. The C/A I heard could be more pronounced with minimum focal lengths and with the V1 performing better than most.

That does pose a problem for wide angle shots though. We're all waiting for Phil to tell us the best solution.

Kim,

As we know, all cameras have their shortcomings. I bought V1 after serious evaluation of Pentax Optio 550, S40 and S50.

I found the settings to be imperative for the result.

By adjusting sharpening to -1, color to +1 and contrast to -1 I found it was a winner. It's like having a "pocket-717" :)

Good tip.

The reason for the original post was to show what the camera is capable of when in the hands of a complete beginner using the automatic settings. All I did was power on and shoot.

I see the red and green edges at all focal lengths and at all aperatures.

Examples:
28 mm/f8.0:

11.8 mm/f3.2:

(Check Mickeys right ear)

8.4 mm/f8.0:

9.9 mm/f5.6:

Someone please write the solution as I have seen lots of 'perfect' pictures from the V1.

But I will not buy this camera until I have seen a proper solution to these red and green edges as they make the pictures unusable IMHO.

Yes, some can be done in Photoshop but not what I expected from SONY and Carl Zeiss!
